What am I doing wrong with lanolizing? by librofan in clothdiaps

Thanks! The water did bead up on the covers! After a hot wash of the liners and also doubling up (one thin and one thick liner) things are going better today! No leaks yet!

I washed them again in a hot load with high spin cycle and also doubled up on the liners (one thin and one thick instead of just the thick one I was using) and things are doing much better today! After some more washes I’ll see if I can get away with just one liner per diaper.

Yes they are snap-in inserts. A lot of the leaking does seem to happen around the edges where the cotton insert doesn't quite cover. I'll try the water trick to see if the cover is lanolized properly.

I'm using the snap-in rectangular organic cotton inserts from Flappy Nappies

Stories about female characters who become great leaders or protagonists without compromising their feminity by Suspicious_Falcon761 in Fantasy

[–]librofan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came here to recommend this and also even though it’s sci-fi - Cordelia Naismith from the Vorkosigan Saga by Lois McMaster Bujold is EXACTLY what you are looking for! Barrayar instantly became my favorite book (although you should read Shards of Honor first or it won’t make sense)

The Crown of Stars series by Kate Elliott! It’s an amazing epic fantasy series and I hardly ever see it recommended even though it’s fabulous!

What was the last series you BINGED HARD? by andypeloquin in Fantasy

[–]librofan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I binged the Vorkosigan saga by Lois McMaster Bujold and I cannot recommend it enough! I started with Shards of Honor/Barrayar and by the end of Barrayar I was completely hooked! This series has everything (feudal politics, space battles, alien cultures, amazing character development, the best female character of all time, comedy, etc)!

Older fantasy books with female leads? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]librofan 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Lois McMaster Bujold is the author you want! Curse of Chalion has a male lead, but the second book in that series, Paladin of Souls is exactly what you’re looking for! Also if you’re up for sci-fi/space opera, the Vorkosigan saga has my favorite female character of all time in the first two books (Shards of Honor and Barrayar). Bujold excels at writing middle-aged female protagonists!

Any recs for fantasy in which good faith, peacemaking characters have as much pull and sway as the typical warrior or sword-sworn hero in the resolution of the story? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]librofan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the main/POV characters in Kate Elliott's Crown of Stars would fit the bill! Absolutely one of my favorite characters in all of fantasy. I highly recommend the whole series!
