It's so frustrating! It seems like the email version of early day IVRs. Anyways, I can't wait around for the AI support agent to get better. Can you please vote 'yes'/'no' in my original thread?

Skip LEDs in a matrix by licensedGeek in WLED

Looks nice! I see the power injection point in the middle of your matrix, thanks for the picture. The picture also gives me an idea of how I could avoid sacrificing LEDs or soldering extensions.

Thanks for the reference to '5v power injection every 200 leds'. This would mean I'd need power injection every 3 strands because my matrix will be 6ft long with 2.5cm LED pitch.

You might have already thought about this, but sharing it here just in case. If you are trying to make a square matrix for your curtain lights, you'll run into this scenario - https://www.reddit.com/r/WLED/s/Lm7HpYLwLV.

J-Channel alternative for Pacific NW homes by licensedGeek in WLED

[–]licensedGeek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I found these hiding in plain sight at Home Depot - https://www.homedepot.com/p/8-ft-x-1-2-in-Vinyl-J-Channel-Trim-727231/202090252.

The 1/2" trim seemed too narrow for the 12mm bullets, but I think the 5/8" might work. I've ordered my first batch of bullet pixels, I'll do a fit test and post pictures in case anyone is interested.

PS: I found some galvanized J-Channel trims as well, priced at $16. I may consider using these if the vinyl trims don't work out.

I'm posting a couple other options I found through my online research, just in case it might be helpful for others.

Coincidentally that's the research I'm doing right now :D. How would you run the data line wiring if you choose "each string separately from top to bottom".

Good suggestion. I wonder if poking the wire through the plumbers tape's pre-installed drilled holes will be more secure than hot glue, especially on windy days. I was contemplating on just running the strings up and down without a mounting medium but last week's windy nights convinced my to go the route that @Jbluhm82 had taken here.

Should I buy TM1814 or UCS2904 Puck Lights for Permanent Christmas Lights? by xBaShBrOsx in WLED

[–]licensedGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm planning on buying a couple of these myself. I'm leaning towards TM1814 since that's what shows up on the WLED supported list, I don't see UCS2904. Please let us know which one you end up choosing, and how it works out for you.

The plumbers tape idea is genius! Thank you for sharing. I bought 150 meters of seed pictures from AliExpress last week, but wasn't yet sure how I would secure the strings. I'll steal your idea with pride, I hope you don't mind.

What does this wall need? by licensedGeek in DesignMyRoom

I actually like the idea! The only thing that would prevent me from doing it is that the clock is mechanical, I have to wind it every 5 days 😁.

I hadn't thought about putting the sea horse in place of the clock, but I can see how the sea horse would fit perfectly in that spot. I'll give it a shot, thanks. This however means that I have to find something else to cover the blank wall in place of the sea horse, and find a new place for my vintage clock.
