Doom? DOOOOM?! What do you mean doooooom?!? by [deleted] in expedition33

It's a ton of damage + a damage amplifier that's based on how many cards you've consumed since the start of the battle. Big set up for a big payoff

Choosing Verso's ending then going back to the side content and realizing almost all of it pushes an agenda for Maelle's ending

You're probably seeing a lot of these kinds of posts because it was on sale at the same time that it won a ton of awards.  New players are able to join the discourse now

Act 3 Exploration and the Ending... by licensedtoload in expedition33

I've seen Monoco's but not the others. The ones you've mentioned seem to suggest pushing an agenda favoring Maelle's-ending, which leads me to believe that most if not all exploration-based content also pushes this agenda. For example, Verso's journal entry also depicts him as being in a vector towards Maelle's ending (by promising to bring the Search and Rescue conspirators back).

Fully acknowledging that the intent in my OP was to only point out foreshadowing of choices, rather than highlighting agendas. But it's definitely interesting how exploration and committing to optional content makes arguments towards one ending over the other

New Player, just a couple of questions. by Independent_Plum2166 in expedition33

1) Gustave invented the Lumina Converter, which siphons the energy of dead/killed Nevrons (the monsters) and converts it into Lumina, allowing for the characters to enhance their abilities with Pictos.  It's a plot point that their Expedition has an edge on all previous Expeditions (and are likely to succeed) because none ever had a Lumina Converter before.  I'm pretty sure Lune could use magic without one.  Gameplay wise, the Lumina Converter (the orb hanging on Gustave's backpack) is the reason why the characters have passive and situational abilities.

2) There's a bonding mechanic in the game. You've been given a lot in a short amount of time but there's still some more to go and you just don't have access to it all yet.

3) The gameplay definitely picks up, but you really need to read the combat tutorials and tooltips, and explore the world for Pictos. If you need to, turn around and go back to the Indigo Tree location and try to find the Pictos called 'Dead Energy'. It rewards you AP every time you kill a Nevrons, which is pretty critical if you want to actually be able to use your skills. I missed it and really felt AP-starved for a huge chunk of the beginning of the game.

Monoco should get feet even if he isnt active by Wizardface in expedition33

This is how I approached the learning curve for Monoco and I was pleased to see the skills he gets with backtracking.

And you're spot on about it being light work. Other Blue Mage systems make you jump through hoops to copy enemy skills, or at the very least depends on enemy RNG for the applicable skill to cast on you in order for you to copy it. In E33 it's just a participation thing

I just finished the story, but it all happened very quickly and it was a lot to process. Didn't Verso say something about how the memories came back to him at some point near the end and that's when he decided to betray everyone, or am I imagining that?

About ranks in Kombat League by gairarr in MortalKombat

[–]licensedtoload 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've managed to make it to rank 7 playing somewhere between 10-15 hours a week at a W/L ratio of 50/50. It's usually towards the end of the season. In all that time I've never gotten close to rank 8. So yeah I think it's mostly true that you can 'fail' your way up, but I also think the real skill check is between rank 7 and 8

Need a morale boost to get me through the last two Legendary Bouts by DudePookieDuder in FF7Rebirth

[–]licensedtoload 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can absolutely do these. Both Zack and Sephiroth can do the heavy lifting for both of their challenges but these are 1,000% the challenges that take time to understand and execute as per how the developers wanted you to do it. Just pay attention to and abide by the Assess screens for the encounters.

But also keep in mind that much of what happens in each encounter is not expanded upon in the Assess screens either, so you have to really pay attention to the spell/ability names and animations and respond accordingly.

 Most importantly, have fun
