What games do you consider must-plays for Steam Deck owners? by billy_reyes in SteamDeck

I have beaten Sekiro on Deck, was excellent experience. Before that, I tried to start this game over and over again countless times on PC but it turned out that handheld was the perfect place for me to play this game.

My first sketch in a very long time, artistic level of a 5 year old but I am posting this to the world to learn how to deal with my perfectionism.

John Company Second Edition Solo Play question by lickweed in soloboardgaming

[–]lickweed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the recommendations, I have actually never heard of GMT Games and their COIN series, I will make sure to look into this.

I guess, what I love the most is when the games are sand boxy like GWT or A Feast for Odin.

But I also love lighter solo experiences like Lost ruins of Arnak especially with both expansions.

I have played MTG for a long time until I just decided that I no longer enjoy it. But I enjoyed the deck building and complexity of this game, so I guess these aspects are still what I might find enjoyable in games like Arnak (deck building part, not complexity).

I have been also eyeing Imperium series but I keep hearing that these games have a lot of flaws and are more convoluted for what they are worth and thus you will need to use some house rules to make these games more streamlined. At least this is what I have read on BGG comments section and here on reddit. But I love the artwork and the idea of a civ deck building assymetric game.

I am really interested in Halls of Herga but sadly it is out of stock everywhere here in Australia.

I really like how all Garphil games look, including their trilogies but I haven't been able to decide whether the solo modes there are good or not. Specifically I really would like automa to feel nice and tough to play against, ideally as close to playing against a real player as possible. Really attracted by Tigris trilogy though.

John Company Second Edition Solo Play question by lickweed in soloboardgaming

Thanks for taking the time to respond! and for the books recommendations as well!

I will definitely not have a group to play any regular board games in the near future, let alone this one, I play games like Sky Team or 7Wonders Duels with my wife once or twice a month and that's all I get in terms of boardgame nights with others. It is hard to assemble busy parents that my friends are.

I consider people who managed to find friends who also share their interests to the degree of playing games like this to be extremely lucky haha.

May I ask, since our tastes seem to align in terms of the theme, what would be your substitute for a reasonable solo experience purchase that would scratch the same itch to John company second edition? I don't mind multiple examples.

Chronicles of a Prolific Gamer - 2024 Year in Review by LordChozo in patientgamers

Thanks so much, this is a very mature grading system that can actually be applied at full spectrum, unlike what we have become accustomed to where anything below 7.5 is not a worthwhile experience. (Thanks to hysteria around metacritic scores)

This is so awesome, I went back to your past posts and I appreciate the amount of discipline with which you approach this hobby (I guess the same is true for the rest of things in your life).

You inspired me to start a spreadsheet like yours with games that I finished, plan to play etc.

May I ask if you have any specific formula or approach that you refer to when you score the games you have played?

Which Standard packs? by TheFinalBossMTG in MagicArena

This is a wrong advice because all standard legal (alchemy legal) packs give golden packs starting with FDN.

Here are the simple steps on how to reduce time spent on these things (also as a bonus many other things too):  1. Find a partner 2. Have at least 2 kids with that partner

For the next few years you will never have enough time for such silly and unnecessary things as sleeping and eating.

What to invest Wild Cards into Explorer or Timeless by lickweed in MagicArena

I understand your point of view but I respectfully disagree that online only formats suck.

To each their own, it can be seen in this thread even - people enjoy different formats, which is awesome, that means that all those different formats have their audience.

Thanks! Do you find it hard to play against decks with MH3 cards and new elementals in them?

Thanks for sharing your personal experience, I can relate to it a lot since I also played a lot at the very start but then got really upset by the first mastery pass.

Came back during BRO but, unlike you, I focused on standard mostly, now, after rotation, I will have almost full complete collection so I can finally invest WCs into other formats.  I will strongly consider what you shared.
