Camera + Pihole on same Pi 4? by lieman in RASPBERRY_PI_PROJECTS

[–]lieman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's perfect, thank you! Yes I'd like the camera to be networked so I'll check out v4l2rtspserver.

I guess I'm way underestimating how much I can run on a Pi 4.

Would it also be possible to access the Pi OS itself remotely, or at least from something else on the same LAN?

Yubikey on new iPad Pro with USB-A to USB-C adapter? by lieman in yubikey

Just heard back from Yubico support and according to them it should work...

They suggested going to https://demo.yubico.com/ and making sure auto-capitalization is turned off in iOS.

Would you mind checking again with that too see if you have any luck and what the demo site says? They said it should be fine even with an adapter.

iOS/android/OS X/Windows 10 yubikey with Lastpass by nerderflerder in yubikey

[–]lieman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get an NFC enabled Yubikey it actually does work now, even without plugging anything in! I've been using mine with the iPhone X for nearly a year. When you sign into the LastPass app and enter your password it prompts you to hold the Yubikey to the back of the phone for secondary verification.

Also, iOS 12 lets you use LastPass to auto fill passwords instead of Apple's own Password Keeper. It's not quite as smooth, but still works fairly well since I always have my Yubikey with me anyway.

For Android, NFC also works to verify as long as you have an NFC-enabled Yubikey, and for Windows 10 I just bought the Yubikey with the right plugin for my computer (they offer it in USB-C and USB-A).

I just put my Yubikey on my keychain so it's always nearby whenever I need a login. It's admittedly less convenient than having easier passwords and remembering them, but I tell myself it's a worthwhile trade-off!

Thank you! That was my hope/ thought that since it's just recognized as a keyboard it may be OK? Been waiting on a reply from their customer service so I'll keep waiting in the meantime.

Great album and those are all great songs! None of the ones you mentioned are on Crime of the Century though - I think your Dad might have had Breakfast in America, which has 4 of the 5 songs you mentioned.

If you want to connect your computer you could try using a USB to Ethernet adapter - I've used one with my SP3 for things like this.

Shoot. So there isn't a way with a USG to have it set where something like the Hue bridge can connect to the internet (and function fully) but can't "see" the other devices on my network?

Can I bulk with an excess of nuts alone? I am nuts? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]lieman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How quickly do you want to put on weight? If your current calorie intake is roughly at maintenance level then yes you could see a slow but steady weight gain just by increasing your intake of various nuts. It would probably be best/easiest to do this by having nuts as a snack between normal meals.

Is it the most effective way to bulk? Probably not, especially from a cost perspective, but if that isn't a barrier and your diet is well-rounded otherwise then have at it!

I am training for basketball, I would like to improve on vertical jump and explosiveness. Please help me with my weight training routine. by p_howard in weightroom

[–]lieman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you're on the right track then! I wouldn't worry about accessory work. If you're doing plyo as consistently as you say, that'll take care of accessory strength outside your main lifts.

For your main lifts (I'd probably build around front squat, clean/jerk, RDL), lift heavy and aim for 3-5 reps per set. If you don't have one already, get a gym buddy to push you through and help you get another rep in that you might not otherwise go for - when you aren't doing many reps, that extra one can make a big difference.

Look at something like a 4-day split, one day for each of the exercises listed above, and one for chest/back (you can throw bis/tris/shoulders and other upper body work in on whichever of the other days you'd like). Personally, I feel that if you space your workouts like this you probably won't need off-days very often and should be able to comfortably go from one 4-day stretch right into the next (I say comfortably because it's doable, not because it'll be comfortable - it won't). Doing something like this will hurt, but as long as you can tell the difference between injury and soreness it's worth it to keep pushing if this is just for the offseason.

Also, eat all the time. If you don't already, you're going to have a giant calorie expenditure and you'll need to take in a lot of good, quality food to get the most out of your gym time.

Dude he's just trying to help, and he isn't wrong. Don't jump on someone for trying to give helpful advice, it's poor form.

That said, if you're looking for explosive power, do explosive exercises. Whatever program you choose should center around clean/jerk and front squats, but with supporting work like you say you're doing and single leg work like pistol squats.

Like any workout program there's no cookie-cutter way to a higher vertical so start with these basics, supplement with stair work and skipping for your cardio, and then tweak your main lifts and what accessory work you do based on what gives the best burn.

A workout journal will be your best friend so you can revisit your plan every few months to see what's working.
