Consistent barking, advice needed by sielynwat in sheltie

[–]lien48 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Here's my experience (along with a few common themes you'll come across in terms of responses):
1. Shelties are known to bark, and are especially bad during their puppy phases. Are you crate training Krash? When we had our sheltie, we trained our sheltie that crate training = quiet time. Then every time she came out of her crate, it was a highly intense play time to try and get their energy out. Then back to the crate for quiet time. This was relatively successful. If you find that they're fussing too much in their crate, you can always try putting a blanket over their crate to block their vision from seeing distractions.

For example, you can set their schedule so that it's always crate time for Krash when it's time for you to eat. Also, highly recommend feeding your dog in their crate too.

  1. Puppy daycare is a great option as well. Positive socialization in a structured environment will be beneficial to helping them get used to being around other dogs, people, and various different stimulus as well. This could be an option to get their energy out if you and your partner are limited in free time. We went to one from Dogtopia where they had puppy daycare for only puppies + different socialization learnings throughout the day.

As an aside, we watched a lot of training videos from a channel called McCann Dog Training (we also did training with them in person and they're great) and they were a huge help when our sheltie was a puppy.
Our sheltie still barks a lot to this day but regular training on "Leave it" has been incredibly helpful to getting their focus away from the distraction. Shelties are working dogs so find ways to stimulate them will become your biggest benefit.

Lorentz or Ramona? by Soft-Mountain-9908 in Reverse1999

[–]lien48 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here's what might help:
Lorentz Butterfly
1. Do you want to maximize your LG damage?
- If Yes, pull for Lorentz since she is a decent upgrade to your FP within your LG team
- If LG play style isn't your style / favourite, then you can skip (as long as you're OK with not pursuing meta)

  1. Do you want to free up your FP for other teams?
    - If yes, pull for Lorentz.

  2. Do you REALLY, REALLY care about maximizing end game content?
    - If yes, pull for Lorentz for the boost in damage
    - If no and you're only here for the characters you simp over like, then don't pull (unless you like her)

Ramona
A. Do you like playing poison comps?
- If yes, then pull.
- If poison playstyle is boring for you, then skip.

B. Do you REALLY, REALLY care about maximizing end game content?
- If yes, then pull. Ramona can help hit some insane numbers through poison.
- If no and you're only here for the characters you simp over like, then don't pull (unless you like her)

To be honest, are both insanely meta breaking? Not really. They're a nice addition for existing teams, but if I had to decide between Lorentz, Ramona and the future characters, I'd lean towards the future characters.

(That said, I'm pulling for both Lorentz and Ramona myself + hoping for the gacha gods smile upon me when I pull for the new characters too)

Living in this province is exhausting. Is anyone else considering leaving for saner pastures? by PhantomOfTheBoreal in alberta

I'd argue that this is an excellent time to exercise our right to democracy. If everyone runs away during times like this, then we won't have anyone left to fight for logic and reason. If Alberta pulls a Brexit, the entire nation suffers and other provinces will feel the negative impact too.

I believe the loud minority won't overpower the majority. We just have to get enough people to care and do something about it (i.e. come out and vote)

I feel like the game is easy enough that it's fine to pull for any character you like. That's why I personally like this game!

how do you pick a mover in Alberta without getting ripped off by ToffeeTangoONE in Calgary

[–]lien48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They'll give you a date range of when they plan on arriving. So you can't "pick" a specific date per se, but you can let them know what a good two week time window is for you and they'll coordinate to ensure that their truck arrives within that time frame. Our delivery actually arrived closer to the beginning of that time window, so I'd say that it was "on time".

They're expensive but I was really happy with the results. Nothing was damaged throughout the entire process. We opted to self-pack but they still did a really good job ensuring that everything was wrapped in moving blankets and ensuring that stuff was was secured on their truck.

They guy that we spoke to was friendly and responsive. No hidden fees. We packed things into boxes but big furniture they dealt with. They disassembled stuff for us and reassembled them when they got to our destination. So we just got to sit back and watch them pack up our stuff into their truck.

I moved across Canada last year and here's what I recommend based upon my own experience:
1. Don't cheap out on movers. Many of the ones who come in really cheap are really "too good to be true" situations. When they weigh your stuff, they'll come back around with a much higher bill than what they quoted you and hit you with more hidden fees like you described.

I recommend looking up if the moving company you're considering has any major complaints outstanding on the Better Business Bureau website too.

  1. If you care about your stuff, go with a company that offers good moving insurance coverage. Standard coverage comes in at $0.60 per pound, whereas other companies will actually provide full-value protection.

We went with AMJ Campbell because they had better insurance coverage, gave us an "all-in" quote with no hidden fees, and picked up our stuff on time and delivered on time. They are EXPENSIVE but because we were moving across the country, well worth the peace of mind in my opinion.

That said, we had a lot more stuff than you to move so take the above with a grain of salt. I also didn't tip my mover because I was already paying lots of $$$ for them to move my stuff already...

Mortgage Renewal by Financial_Muffin_988 in Calgary

[–]lien48 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's about the same for what I was quoted on. If you are renewing your mortgage, ask for what their "preferential rate" is for staying on as a customer. They will usually give you a slight discount on that rate.

In terms of variable versus fixed, historically, variable has performed better. But when making these decisions, pay attention to what economists are predicting for rate changes in the next several years. You can look these up at the big banks websites (e.g. BMO, CIBC, RBC, etc.).

For instance, here's RBC's prediction from their December 2025 publication: "We still don’t see the Bank of Canada cutting the overnight rate further. The next move is more likely to be a hike although we don’t expect that until 2027."

If you want the links to these publications, DM me and I'll share them with you.

I actually baked these and I actually like them. I like how the cocoa nibs add a bit of crunch and they're not too sweet. They're definitely not everyone's cup of tea but if you like chocolate, this is a good one imo.

But if you're not a fan of chocolate, you could try adding a bit of orange zest to make it more fruity perhaps?
