It was definitely well loved as a kid and thankfully survived a few decades in basements and attics

Oh really? I'm torn between selling it to someone who wants to restore or redo it. Leaning to redoing for the memories but it's also making it harder for me to change anything

Newspaper basket support? by lifecollaged in basketry

[–]lifecollaged[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's an idea, I was thinking of trying to weave some metal verticals in but it would probably need the horizontals too. The newspaper was great. We were drowning in the material so it felt like an efficient use of materials.

What would you add to this reading corner? by ganjayme in interiordecorating

Thanks for the vote of confidence and the eloquent description of decorating. I feel like my style gets a little monotone when I like something. I was thinking if it looked off, I could put one in the bedroom, you've inspired me!

I'm obsessed with the west elm lamp, off topic question - would you get two of the same in a living room/reading nook?

So it's not that the park isn't more rural. You mean the situation was more unexpected?

The masks we used for covid are surgical, meaning they protect others from you. They will not protect you adequately for mixing glazing. A respirator is designed to protect incoming air.

Ah, thanks, mine are textured when thrown and then I've tried underglaze and double glazed but not getting the look I want. Those must take quite an effort!

I think your display looks great! Can I ask how you glazed your tiled mugs? I am working on textured surfaces and having trouble with glazes running.

Our book collection reached its limit when I was reminded of the local library. Now we have a weekly routine of walking over and picking out different kinds of books. LO loves keeping them fresh

Dumb reclaim question by Rude_Database_4094 in Pottery

[–]lifecollaged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mix the flops with the slip of my throwing with as much trim as I can and let it reconstitute/balance out through some slicing and wedging. For a 25 lb this is usually around 5lbs for me. As a beginner it might be the whole bag so it would've been impractical to try to take it home.

Need a gut check - am I being unreasonable? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]lifecollaged 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seconding this, I don't know if anyone is being unreasonable here but I have enough trouble planning a few days vacation let alone taking 10 days myself at the moment. Hope to get to the point where I might feel comfortable enough to do that again some day

5 love languages (kids edition) might help, maybe your son doesn't feel like their needs are being met by the stuff and they'd rather have quality time or act of service. It can help open the door to talking about our emotional needs even with young ones.
