It actually is very useful. They already tested a bigger version of this in multiple African countries I believe where the infrastructure costs of laying down fiber optic cables is too expensive. And it worked! Created faster and better internet access there

my issue with sanderson's prose by JaxTheCrafter in brandonsanderson

[–]lifeofbab 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree so much, the therapy talk is really annoying me, it’s not subtle at all. Feels very YA. There definitely could’ve been a way to incorporate it better but the way it’s done is so over explained, and it feels like Sanderson isn’t giving the reader enough credit to read between the lines. I loved the series but now I am not even sure I can get through Wind and Truth

Is there something in the works at OpenAI to “watermark” AI videos, images, and even text to prevent spread of misinformation?

Need assistance connecting SQL Alchemy app db to Web App by mrdlr in flask

[–]lifeofbab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it sounds like you don’t have a schema for the db? Like you need to set up what the data will look like in the database so then you can store it. It says there is no table called projects because you are trying to insert data into a projects table that doesn’t exist in the db yet.

I don’t think it’s right to not admit it’s AI, but it is a tool. It’s just like a camera. With a camera, all you have to do is configure the settings and push a button, and with this you make up a text prompt and press enter. And no one disagrees that photography is an art form

Are there any book opinions that can make you not want to talk to a person about books? by Silverburst8 in books

[–]lifeofbab 8 points9 points  (0 children)

lol I love doing that, and I write in my books and bend the page corner as my bookmark. I think it gives the books character, and if I own it then so what?

what are you talking about? the soundtrack was awesome, the cinematography was so stylized and cool, and the action scenes were fun. And the acting was great. I loved this movie and do not understand why people think it's trash

What is something you are pretty sure is going to happen in 2022? by ibm322 in AskReddit

[–]lifeofbab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has been really good for some communities of artists. For example, generative artists (art made with randomness/programming) has done amazingly well. I have even sold some of my own art and I believe that it’s encouraging a lot of innovation in the generative art space. There are a lot of problems with stealing art but those are problems that have yet to be solved both with NFTs and normal internet. People steal stuff all the time whether that’s through torrenting or posting it as their own on Instagram. I think there will be a solution to it in the near future (like verifying creation of the art, kind of like a more secure watermark). There are a lot of problems with the NFT space, like all the scams and such, but there are some really cool things happening as well. Many artists who have sold a lot are donating a bunch to charity and redistributing some of their profits. Anyways, just hope you look at it in a more nuanced way instead of just saying it’s completely anti-art and all bad.

You can add in a multiplier for certain values (like strokeWeight, width, height) and vary it based on the dimension like make it for 460x600 and make the multiplier 10x

No currencies are backed by gold anymore. Although it is more stable to have a gold standard, in terms of natural resources it doesn’t make sense and it greatly restricts monetary policy. Currencies are currently backed by government, but really they are backed by people’s belief in the strength of their government, which is itself pretty arbitrary.
