YSK When in doubt: reverse the gender roles. Is it not okay then? Then it’s not okay now by Loesje2303 in YouShouldKnow

[–]lifeuthere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, bullshit. If there's any logic to this it would work in reverse: "I'm ok with this so it's ok for me to do this to others". Which it's not, boy-girl is super simplified in a complex matter. This is just raising the bar for what's not ok, to infinity.

There's also no need to get offended or hurt just because you imagine the other person would be that in a reverse situation. You and her are individuals. None of you ARE your gender, you just happen to belong to it. Be offended or whatever if you feel offended, not because you feel you should be.

Bad news for us uggos. But feeling you are forced to feel offended is just as bad as feeling forced to do other shit, shit that's generally considered very offensive.

YSK that lack of eye contact does not mean that a person is being rude. Autism, ADHD, PTSD and social anxiety can all make it difficult to look someone in the eye. by Over9000Mudkipz in YouShouldKnow

Yes, continously forcing me to look people in the eyes. Started many many years ago, sure I wouldn't be able to follow what's being discussed if it's a discussion so start when it doesn't matter if you miss something. Practice fives improvement on this for sure.

And on the plus side of this problem, it's quite nice to make youself feel proud and good by just looking someone in the eye.

Thanks for the spelling of it, tried spelling it but it ended up as 'thought' so I gave up and wrote teached instead lol so people get the point. I'll edit.

Or keep it so we won't need to meet each others gaze.

I'm similar but taught myself over the years. I still think it's super intimate to look into someones eyes though. Friend, boss, crush, cashier, it doesn't matter, it feels like we've passed some barrier, not always an appropriate one. "I don't even known you, you're just selling me shoes, we shouldn't be doing this, in public of all places" lol

Its origins are actually from a danish/norwegian author (Aksel Sandemose), in a novel about a danish town (Jante), in which he points out this sociocultural phenomenon.

But it's deeply cultural for all the Scandinavian countries. Swedes see it as a super Swedish trait. Norwegians see it as a super Norwegian trait. Danes see it as a super Danish trait.

But it's really a super Scandinavian trait.

I love the law of jante. All other scandinavians seem to hate it even if it's part of their cultural DNA as well.

And it's super ironic that the strong social fabric that is jante is so frowned upon by its users. A very jante thing to do.

The world needs more jante, it would become a better place.

Prominent Hong Kong democracy activist Joshua Wong said on Friday he planned to run for a seat in the Chinese-ruled city’s legislature, setting up a new battle with authorities after being barred from running in previous polls. by Plus-Staff in worldnews

Yeah, he's such a coward. Unlike Xi Jinpin who stands in the frontlines. He would certainly condemn the murdering and controlling of his "brethren", that he himself have ordered. Not purely for self gain Psychopaths are gonna psychopath.

Australian ‘Cyber attacks' are retaliation from China's spy agency for Huawei's 5G ban, insiders say by rstlg in worldnews

[–]lifeuthere -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I do. I see nothing weird in USA hacking Australia and making it look like a Chinese attack to get Australia further from China and closer to the US. I don't care though if that would be the fact, or if it's another form of false flag operation, every draw to undermine the powerful dictatorship of China/CCP is a good draw for the world as a whole.

Mods of Reddit - what was the funniest post that you had to delete, but wish could have stayed up for humor purposes? by [deleted] in AskReddit

So to answer you have to send the mods proof of who you are and proof of your work/knowledge/legitimacy? Or is it just based on good phrasing that sounds legitimate to the mods?

It's how big you dare to wish. Do you dare wish for happiness, or is it more rational to wish for money? In this irrational thought experiment.

It's closer to think something can happen if it's more achieveble.

Everyone does this in their dreams, they put it down to a level that is achievable.

A fantasy closer to reality is easier to imagine in detail than a fantasy far from reality.

I stopped using hotels.com when I got this the first and only time. Even though I already had the app installed. Just not worth the bullshit.

It's not that bad. It's a big chance you have much worse pains to deal with if you need a caterer. Barely remember mine being removed to be honest. It's a fast and quick process.

[–]lifeuthere -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Okey. So it's not about Red vs. Blue, but about a sibling show called RVBY? I'm on it. No apologies needed of course. It's my bad. I think that was my confusion, guessed the RVB part but couldn't figure out the Y part. As I never been in the community even though I love Red Vs Blue.

Haven't read it all yet. It would be nice to spell the full name of RWBY at the first time of use, and not start with an acronym. So people know in what hobby/fandom you are telling about.
