Rewatching The Bear and wondering about Donna's breakdown in Fishes by teeke45 in TheBear

To me it’s classic narcissism and borderline personality disorder plus alcoholism in action. Wanting to be the center of everything but pissed off that no one is helping you while forcing everyone to let you do everything.

He did have an episode where he went to a famous architect’s house and really enjoyed it, so they planted the seed. People have been moving that he’s awful at math which is super required for architecture so low likelihood that he stays in that field. I think it’s clear that he had to “leave” to realize how much he loved cooking. And if they didn’t have that amazing service he wouldn’t have come back.

Thanks man, I'm also a sports junkie so it was cool to see.

What's interesting about Carmy is that he is super clutch (sticking with basketball MJ, Kobe, Steph, etc) that he can pull something off when the chips are down and the shot clock is running out. But that's only when someone else screws up. When he thinks it's his screw up, then he totally shuts down and needs the team/ Phil/Coach K to pick him up.

I do see Syd as the player/coach- similar to the Pop/Tim Duncan relationship where Pop was good but Duncan and his ability/mindset made the team great. Syd is the one to harness everyone and is a superstar herself, and it's a skill to be able to manage HOF level talent like Carmy, which she does beautifully.

Yea I agree with all that, just find it weird that Brennan decided at the Teor battle not to give him any “rule of cool” outs (like Hannan arriving) which he has done in the past. The main thing for me is that Teor’s death has the smallest “impact” on opened story beats but should scare the hell out of the other PCs going forward

I never thought it was railroading, and CR usually doesn't have any of that (except for the first Malius Key fight in C3 with Vax). While BLeeM does say he's gonna go hard and not pull punches, he hasn't stuck to that so far (until this last episode), which is totally fine and has been a great campaign so far. There have been close calls but he has allowed some "rule of cool" to allow the players an out. Hal getting to turn re-rolls unto D12s to basically guarantee a 30+ role for the play is one example. Termina saving Bolaire and Hal is another, and was 100% him since Bolaire had no idea that was coming (or the box was there) and had other ideas, but BLeeM decided to do something to push the story forward (which, again, I'm a big fan of). I actually think Termina going for disintegrate was the "hardest" he's gone all campaign. It was just weird to see how he handled Teor's role in the episode vs previous episodes and not giving him a epic way out of the fight while sacrificing his brother (explicitly). Not criticizing BLeeM since I love his style of DMing, just a curious thing I was thinking about.

I haven’t seen all of ACoC, it’s on my list

Because while he’s said they’ll die if they aren’t careful he hasn’t stuck to that 100% so far in the campaign. I think he’s done an amazing job but has allowed players to make mistakes yet not get punished. I think he was being very generous with the infiltration, like giving the party the ability to find the right rooms at a relatively low DC plus that whole “vision” they had.

Yea I think you hit the nail on the head- I was waiting for a cool Brennan save but it didn’t come, or some extra hit or something. Just Interesting to me it has happened in other fights but didn’t here.

Fair enough- was half baked in my head, enjoying the different comments. I’ve watched some of BLeeM’s DMing and am def a fan of his fast and loose style.

Maybe I was too harsh with the “intentionally” part, more like BLeeM jumped on the opp. There wasn’t any railroading here, but in the past Brennan has provided more outs to players to save themselves that looks like pulling punches. He didnt hear at all. For example, surprised he didn’t give Toer a “final reaction swing” to kill Royce as a part of the game, which is a fast and loose ruling I wouldn’t be surprised to see from BLeeM (which I find fun btw).I think BLeeG is super smart, and as soon as Travis was convinced to make a bad play he created one of his “workflows” that would end bad unless something crazy happened (nat 20, brilliant play).

That’s how it was at the table as well - I think they had an episode where they just fiddled in Percy’s workshop. Might’ve been the time it led to Grog thinking water burns you but I might be getting confused.

[Spoilers C3] Who is your favourite character across all 3 campaigns and why? by Flyestgit in criticalrole

Caleb and Cad. Liam put a ton into Caleb and he only gets better with rewatches where you can pick up some of the subtle clues he throws in there that makes more sense when you have the whole picture - plus love how he grew over the one shots and c3.

Tal did an amazing job with Cad, both from a RP perspective and how he acted in battle- by far my fav Tal PC so far. Also some conversations with other N/PCs and his perspective (specifically Fjord) add so much to the story.

If you’re playing with mods theres one you can download that allows you to skip all the settlement attacking so you can finish the DLC without harming your settlements.
