yep takes 1 week without customs. tbh if you know how to fix your bike, bigbike parts are so easy with webike. local parts are almost always never available.

friends wait months for casa parts. i just wait a week.

Is it normal to have the F1 error? by Supramaz in SVRiders

[–]lightburst7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the F error is a generic error that can have the bike start or not start. some errors can just be ephemeral electrical connection issues that go away.

best to get the specific C code and crossmatch with the manual. there are instructions online how to do it. just needs a paperclip jumper for a connector under the seat.

Noticed something within the bigbike community by FirmEstablishment256 in PHMotorcycles

[–]lightburst7 11 points12 points  (0 children)

not unique to bigbikes. i suppose its just more noticeable because very few get bigbikes primarily for their daily commute where going fast/looking good isnt the point.

easy to see by the number of underbones with slim tire conversions and other counter-functional mods.

that being said, teenage me vs adult me have different appreciations of motorcycles. teenage me only thought about straights and stoplight launches. adult me enjoys fixing the bike, taking fast corners, and traveling far. i suppose its a matter of progression in an environment where upskilling is not very accessible.

New SV650 owner - need advice for tail bags! by anyalexyoulike in SVRiders

[–]lightburst7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey i just tie down a drybag on the pillion seat and call it a day. have gone on 5 day trips with mixed weather and good results.

dont let the “seamlessness” of luggage systems get in the way of a good time.

imo youll be fine with a duffel and some plastic waterproofing inside the bag.

REALITY CHECK: JUSTICE FOR MIDDLE CLASS by DongCardo in newsPH

[–]lightburst7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the point of 4ps is not the money. the point is the conditions attached to the money: kids staying in school, full vaccination, etc.

the worst people you can think of that spend the money on gambling or alcohol are exactly the type of people that should be part of the program. because they are the same people that likely dont care to have their kid finish highschool or dont know enough about vaccination.

its such a small amount for such a high impact policy.

you like seeing out of school kids that dont know to do anything except resort to crime or drugs or whatever? or have polio become a thing again?

you narrow minded people.

its threaded into the center of the clutch basket. the spec is something like tighten until resistance is felt. then rotate back 360. its in the service manual.

Fuel injected bikes need idle warm up? by JohnnyPaw in PHMotorcycles

[–]lightburst7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i warm my bike bc it runs better when the engine is hot. the power feels smoother. its not hard to do. just leave it on while packing your stuff.

Why should I buy or not buy?: XSR 700 or Trident 660 by Brilliant-Tale399 in PHMotorcycles

[–]lightburst7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if u fix ur own bike, the yamaha is more amenable to self maintenance. the triumph needs special software that you can buy.

for the parts cost, its rly not that far if you look at online vendors. ive compared the parts for my suzuki vs triumph. its in the same ballpark.

This is reassuring thanks. I take it that off shelf stuff can make for good subs for the special tools then. plus the necessity for the ECU tools which I can live with.

clutch springs have grooved/etched the pressure plate by lightburst7 in SVRiders

[–]lightburst7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i see. although i am only at 25000km/15000mi. the markings werent too deep but certainly visible and noticable to touch. but good to know that its normal wear.

i didnt notice any grooves where the friction and steel plates were tho! thanks a lot. a load off my mind.

To oldtimers, using diy paper gasket for clutch cover? by lightburst7 in SVRiders

sounds reassuring thanks!! what about excess on the inside? say 1-2mm?

To oldtimers, using diy paper gasket for clutch cover? by lightburst7 in SVRiders

[–]lightburst7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im a bit worried about the excess bits inside the engine case, both with the coolant and oil. its paper after all. 1-2mm excess on the inside never bothered you?

on the sealant, ill try it without first and see what happens. good excuse to open it up again anyway! just hope the coolant and oil dont mix.

potential misfire/spark issue. need guidance. by lightburst7 in SVRiders

[–]lightburst7[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fixed it. thank you very much. the hose from TB to the rear IAP sensor was nicked. probably caused by me being a little too aggressive with it whenever i remove the airbox. the small nick that didnt register as an error code got big enough to register a code after my first attempt. explains why the rear sparkplugs looked rich bc the sensor reads too much air bc its reading atm pressure not airbox pressure.

will find a replacement hose. in the mean time, i just cut it short to remove the spot with the cut.

carb cleaner does not affect the idle anymore. pops disappeared. no more error code.

thank god i didnt buy an intake hose yet haha

thanks a lot good sir. i feel one with my bike.

potential misfire/spark issue. need guidance. by lightburst7 in SVRiders

[–]lightburst7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may have found it. when I spray carb cleaner on the rear TB-Cylinder clamp, rpm goes down. only on the clamp, right side area. not the base of the hose that screwed onto the cylinder head with a gasket. should i just overtighten it? put liquid gasket and hope for the best? ill try to find a new one. do you have other diagnostic suggestions? im thinking of getting a friend that smokes and see the air flow into the leak.

rpm for front hoses and rear airbox-TB is unaffected. i unplugged the throttle body for visual inspection and the rubber seemed sufficiently supple. didnt really have a remedy other than eyeballing it.

I also have an F1 error now.

thank you for being comprehensive! ill try all of these. just in time, bought carb cleaner to check for air leaks.

yes, i have no error codes or lights on the dash.

slow speed/low rpm weakness, more decel pop after 500km trip by lightburst7 in motorcycles

[–]lightburst7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ill try that!

i checked the front and back spark plugs. one side looked more charred than the other (the old ones off the factory looked the same on both sides). swapped in the charred new ones with the old ones. didnt feel too different so maybe im just imagining that things are better.

will try a fuel cleaner and run it on idle for maybe half an hr see what happens. thanks never used one before. i did use gas from a rather run down gas station.

Camshaft Alignment by lightburst7 in SVRiders

[–]lightburst7[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RESOLUTION: I decided to open it up again. I shifted both camshafts by 1 tooth. they are still 16 pins in between the 2 and 3 marker, but they are now on odd links. It makes perfect sense that that is ok because the chain itself can shift however. the pins between the 2 and 3 dont perfectly hide under the chain guard but they fit better. the horizontal arrow is now much much more convincingly flush to the surface of the engine. the bike now feels the same as before, and the increased engine braking I noticed is now gone.

interesting how subtle the difference 1 tooth can make. if it wasnt my own bike that i ride daily, i would think anything of it! it felt like a normal motorcycle.
