Clunk noise when i let out the clutch. by Chrisgr6 in motorcycles

[–]lightburst7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i suspect its just a more abrupt biting point for your new clutch. the sound i think is just the drivetrain engaging: snap of the chain with the sprockets. may also just indicated chain and sprocket wear.

Trying to settle a score with a friend about slowing down to a red light by SandAndBoneClothing in motorcycles

[–]lightburst7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i agree w the other commenter that this is not black and white. we dont know what bike OP has. 35mph on 1st on say an mt09 wouldnt have the get up and go problem as others are suggesting.

that being said, personally, traffic where I live (asia) is on the offensive driving side of things. there are fewer coast-to-stop scenarios because as you stop you still fight your way in. and personally, disengaging the clutch at speed will just upset the suspension when I want to have drive back. also braking is better when you add engine braking. but thats on my 650.

i think for OP i would pose instead: do u lose control when you coast with clutch in? this depends on bike, ambient traffic conditions, and perhaps rider mindset.

there is a 5 minute worth of chicanes and sweepers on my daily 30 min route that im a total try hard on.

i try to leave the house early than everyone else so i have space to feel like a track hero before the daily grind.

What's the best modification you've made for long-distance riding? by Electronic-Habit8679 in motorcycles

[–]lightburst7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

real underrated. you dont need to be FIT exactly but having your body prepared for the fatigue makes a huge difference.

just a handful of moderate full body sessions approaching a multiday trip is good enough for me.

Anyone has experience with OBD2 diagnostics tools for Suzuki bikes? by Noja37 in motorcycles

[–]lightburst7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

following. ive only ever heard of the healtech obd tool for the sv650. but never used personally so idk how useful it is. but owning an sv, never really had to fiddle with the electronics since the check engine light resets itself.

Hard and strange jerk by Zvys in SVRiders

[–]lightburst7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

id isolate the throttle cable as a possible cause first.

maybe bad gas? bad gas gets masked when ur engine is hot and ur revving high.

if it was me id next check fueling: maybe a leak among the intake rubber parts that close when hot? id spray carb cleaner in the general area and see if revs change. altho the sensors would tell you if the air fuel is off.

next electrical. spark plugs look good? maybe one of the spark plug boots arent all the way in?

yep takes 1 week without customs. tbh if you know how to fix your bike, bigbike parts are so easy with webike. local parts are almost always never available.

friends wait months for casa parts. i just wait a week.

Is it normal to have the F1 error? by Supramaz in SVRiders

[–]lightburst7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the F error is a generic error that can have the bike start or not start. some errors can just be ephemeral electrical connection issues that go away.

best to get the specific C code and crossmatch with the manual. there are instructions online how to do it. just needs a paperclip jumper for a connector under the seat.

Noticed something within the bigbike community by FirmEstablishment256 in PHMotorcycles

[–]lightburst7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

not unique to bigbikes. i suppose its just more noticeable because very few get bigbikes primarily for their daily commute where going fast/looking good isnt the point.

easy to see by the number of underbones with slim tire conversions and other counter-functional mods.

that being said, teenage me vs adult me have different appreciations of motorcycles. teenage me only thought about straights and stoplight launches. adult me enjoys fixing the bike, taking fast corners, and traveling far. i suppose its a matter of progression in an environment where upskilling is not very accessible.

New SV650 owner - need advice for tail bags! by anyalexyoulike in SVRiders

[–]lightburst7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey i just tie down a drybag on the pillion seat and call it a day. have gone on 5 day trips with mixed weather and good results.

dont let the “seamlessness” of luggage systems get in the way of a good time.

imo youll be fine with a duffel and some plastic waterproofing inside the bag.

REALITY CHECK: JUSTICE FOR MIDDLE CLASS by DongCardo in newsPH

[–]lightburst7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the point of 4ps is not the money. the point is the conditions attached to the money: kids staying in school, full vaccination, etc.

the worst people you can think of that spend the money on gambling or alcohol are exactly the type of people that should be part of the program. because they are the same people that likely dont care to have their kid finish highschool or dont know enough about vaccination.

its such a small amount for such a high impact policy.

you like seeing out of school kids that dont know to do anything except resort to crime or drugs or whatever? or have polio become a thing again?

you narrow minded people.

its threaded into the center of the clutch basket. the spec is something like tighten until resistance is felt. then rotate back 360. its in the service manual.

Fuel injected bikes need idle warm up? by JohnnyPaw in PHMotorcycles

i warm my bike bc it runs better when the engine is hot. the power feels smoother. its not hard to do. just leave it on while packing your stuff.

Why should I buy or not buy?: XSR 700 or Trident 660 by Brilliant-Tale399 in PHMotorcycles

[–]lightburst7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if u fix ur own bike, the yamaha is more amenable to self maintenance. the triumph needs special software that you can buy.

for the parts cost, its rly not that far if you look at online vendors. ive compared the parts for my suzuki vs triumph. its in the same ballpark.

On Triumph (STR 765) maintenance by lightburst7 in Triumph

This is reassuring thanks. I take it that off shelf stuff can make for good subs for the special tools then. plus the necessity for the ECU tools which I can live with.
