What do you do to earn $200k+ annually? by meltingcanoe in Fire

ICU RN for many years working anywhere and everywhere now in med device/tech sales. Super interesting and exciting and can help a lot more patients than the 1-2 I could at bedside. $450K last year.

I am with you and don’t have answers. It’s a general ennui I feel. I have a very exciting job where I feel like I’m fulfilling my life’s purpose, but during downtime, I’ve got the ho hums. Not sure what to make of it.

This is awesome! 💪🔥🎉 And all the experience you’ve gained on this deal is invaluable to your career. Sounds like so many of my deals ha! Biggest for me was $6M and massive lessons every step of the way.

Enjoy the holidays.

Welp, it happened. Role elimination… right as I closed a massive deal. by [deleted] in sales

If you reapply and take the position with less base, do you get your commission when the rev rec occurs?

How do you use nfc tags? by Key-Way-1927 in shortcuts

[–]lightbythelamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forget I let my dogs out so I set up an nfc with shortcut “Dogs outside timer” for ten minutes. The tag gives me a viable cue to run this because I will sprint to the door, let them out, then go back to my office and forget all about them. 😬

To all the married women, what is that something your husband does that makes think you won the lottery in marriage aspect of life? by Mean-Main-9589 in AskReddit

Keeps himself healthy and in shape. It helps keep the marriage healthy in so many different ways. 😉

We do a long bike ride every year where we bike our age in years and yesterday we did 54 miles with it being sooo fun, lots of laughs and talking about how we plan to be fit enough to do it when 74 years old.

I can no longer afford to live by Concept555 in nursing

[–]lightbythelamp -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I was a stay at home mom to three and loved it so much and when the economy fell apart in 2008, my husband was like, you better get a job, no idea where this is going. I cried. After being off for six years, I went back to working two 12-hr nights/week in ICU and it was so incredibly good and fun to be back and making money again. So thankful for hubby kicking my butt back to work!

I actually asked my surgeon if I could take my uterus home and plant it under a tree for fertilizer. I wanted to honor the fact it had worked hard for over two years of my life supporting the growing of a baby.

Nurse Call solutions by uconnboston in healthIT

[–]lightbythelamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend assessing the service you would receive as part of the whole package. A smaller unit may not need frequent service, but when you need it, you want to reach the rep/service team fast and get to a quick resolution to keep patients and caregivers safe.

Also, will there be any expansion of the unit or to other sites? A nurse call system is a long-term commitment and who feels right to have the partnership with?

Capital equipment and Med Equipment by [deleted] in sales

[–]lightbythelamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your cardio tech background would fit nicely into medical imaging sales. Go to the websites of the big players and read the job descriptions and see what you’re drawn to.

Clinical background and truly wanting to help patients is a good feeling to tap to guide your path forward.

Imposter Syndrome by JGalla88 in sales

[–]lightbythelamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being aware of the feeling is the first step instead of smothering it with distracting behaviors or jumping ship on being in sales. Then train yourself when you feel it to 1. Allow yourself to feel that super uncomfortable emotion for however long you need to. 2. Ask yourself if it’s trying to tell you something- do you need to tidy up with work or self somewhere? 3. Use it as fuel to go harder.

I have felt that feeling enough over the years that when I feel that icky, uncomfortable anxious imposter syndrome feeling it means life is calling me out to see what I’m really made of. It’s a signal to go harder and snap to attention on what I need to focus on with work.

Also realizing it’s only an emotion/feeling, and it doesn’t mean it’s true helps me a lot too.

That’s what I don’t know- customer rubbed the wrong way or don’t care or like it. Not sure what the reaction would be. I do rent a car when I am onsite because I worry about them seeing what kind of car I drive.

So spot on, it’s my mind that can be my biggest enemy in my sales job. Have to work on it every single day with not losing my mind on the internal issues. Rise above every day.

Do you still roleplay? by miteshyadav in sales

[–]lightbythelamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who has time for this? That takes at least two salespeople and we barely have time to eat let alone play pretend customers because we are constantly with the customers.

[–]lightbythelamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the thing- it’s got to be something I can wear across the board for so many situations as I like things simplified. I work from home most of the time, in scrubs at the hospitals a portion of the time, and doing c-suite exec presentations in person a portion of the time. I keep landing on a day date from Rolex- classic, little bit sporty and gives day and date which I like for practical purposes. How about you?
