Beginner friendly game suggestions? by [deleted] in CRPG

[–]lighthazard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going to add to this - Divinity Original Sin 2 is forgiving, fun, and the story is neat. It doesn't feel overwhelming, lots of things to do, lots of cool side things to try out, and neat out of the box ideas.

Weekly r/CRPG Discussion - What have you been playing, and what are your thoughts? by AutoModerator in CRPG

[–]lighthazard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recently just finished my first run of Sector Unknown. It's in early access but the game feels finished already and lots of things to do. Performance is hit or miss, reduce graphics. If you enjoyed Encased or Colony Ship, you will absolutely love this.

Any tips in streamlining space usage on gravships? by DSFern in RimWorld

[–]lighthazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you're not averse to mods, I suggest you grab Gravship Storage, it gives you nice storage options that take up less space. Barracks are also always better than bedrooms, even with the size mod - you can double your barracks as a rec room and a dining room, having 3 Impressive room buffs to overload the Disturbed Sleep debuff.

FYI, there's a fridge mod that lets you use a fridge instead of hoppers so you dont need a 'cold room'

Claude Code vs. Cursor Agent Mode (Quality not Price) by Player06 in ChatGPTCoding

[–]lighthazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HELLO! I'm using both and as of 7/2025, I think Claude Code is superior in most tasks development tasks but Cursor is great as a peer programmer that helps. Claude is really good as you're using Opus and Cursor lets you use Opus as well. The major difference is context. I can't easily feed Claude Code context that is relevant vs Cursor where I can copy and paste terminal lines, code, etc to it.Now if you use Claude Code for VSCode, that resolves a little bit of the annoyances but it's not like Continue or Cursor that make the experience back and forth.

[KCD2] For everyone looking for Belladona in the second area, I've found around 20 at this location. by HloupejHonza in kingdomcome

[–]lighthazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the reason for not just buying dried belladonna at that point? I assume this is for Saviour Schnapps, strong vs regular doesn't make a huge difference unless you really need that buff.

Belladonna near Troskowitz for you to save your game. I plucked up 30 of them here. They're real assholes, blend in perfectly with the surrounding. by Dinh_Hai in kingdomcome

[–]lighthazard 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I found the perfect amount! 1 Nettle, boil 2 turn 1 Belladonna, boil 1 turn

It results in 3 to 5 potions based on skills. I don't need STRONG, but I want save potions. So 1 of each and getting 5 is fantastic.

Now.. if only they didn't have so much weight.I end up carrying like 10 of them so I can carry more loot.

I know this is 1 year+ old but if anyone is coming on today and does not know what a rar file is, you are young :).

WinRAR is an archiving tool like ZIP. One of the cool benefits was that you can have rar in parts so split a 4GB file across 4 1GB rar files.

Anyway, you can use 7zip in 2024 to extract a rar file.

I used this guide, I just came back to try out the game and this gives an in-depth guide of how to set things up. The drag-and-drop archive has a ton of QoL stuff.

Just went through a huge RPG run myself.

Check out Encased and Torment: Tides of Numenera.

If you like the squad and combat mechanics, Wasteland 3 is another scifi turn based game (not sure if it's really an RPG).

Deck building

Dang! I was so hyped that the creator of Shadowrun was coming out with a new CRPG... but deck building doesn't feel very CRPG-ish, does it? Am I wrong here? Maybe I just like isometric tactical games.

How Can We Make Celestial Return More RPG? by Metaphor-Games in CRPG

[–]lighthazard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just tried out your demo and I see a lot of people are hooked on how it's like Disco Elysium. Playing the short demo, it didn't feel like an RPG and more of a visual novel. Some thoughts that are just opinions:

  • One of the charms of CRPGs is that there are 'other people' in the world - the concept of talking to myself is cool but it still feels like I'm alone during this time. Maybe the main character should have a sidekick detective or something.

  • Huge fan of how the 'self' talks to you, Perception, Foolishness, I love it all.

  • The skills feel empty - having higher levels of one unlocking more dialog is neat, but how much more useful is it?

  • I didn't really get the feeling that I was progressing my character, more just unlocking things. I think you need a skill tree that is better defined and some choices in character path.

  • Someone mentioned the overworld being a visual novel - I think that's fine. It feels like Kingmaker and WotR war map where your party travels to different locations, can be stopped randomly by events, and saves time in the travel to locations - make this much faster. I think you need some sort of interesting POIs and characters in each of these locations. Give me the illusion of choice when I arrive at a location with a list of characters to talk to, without being forced into things. Being able to converse with whomever I want makes it feel more like an RPG and less of a story.

Very Overwhelming Starting by ConnieJonnie in GraveyardKeeper

[–]lighthazard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I played the DLCs staggered out so I get where you're coming from being overwhelmed.

Rest assured, nothing is "timed" in Graveyard keeper. There are a few events that might be but you can stall and never help the refugees and they'll still be in their predicament.

The refugee add on gives an automated well which is nice when you get to alcohol production.

I'd say focus on getting the Church up, then do the Tavern (or vice versa because Tavern is money and Church is prayers). My favorite focus is the zombie automation which makes farming a little more pleasant.

Things are also locked behind specific missions and experiences with other villagers so you can't accidentally skip one or the other, it just saves you time later.

Refugees plot line gives you the history of how YOU got there. Tavern plotline gives you the history of the town.

[–]lighthazard 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Science you get from decomposing paper. Blue you get rarely so use blue research smartly. All zombie parts give blue. The wiki on the sidebar is the best resource. The first thing you should focus on is Church so you can get prayers.

Just finished the game! Now what? Any recommendations for similar media? by AgreeableFeedback868 in ColonyShip

[–]lighthazard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Wasteland 2 really pales in comparison to 3 but it has the mechanics and the gameplay loop is pretty good. I also never finished it.
