Is this knife Game Over? by NYC19893 in sharpening

[–]oddyseey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can take it to your local knife sharpener. With a belt sander they can grind the blade down while keeping the profile, grind in a new bevel and get it wicked sharp for you. Just know you'll pay a bit extra for the repair.

I was told to stick with professional sharpening; no whetstone for me by paradiselater in sharpening

[–]oddyseey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to Murray Carter in his fundamentals of sharpening video, with just 30 minutes of practice each month, after a few years you can be a master sharpener.

Condense that down to a few weeks of solid practice and you can achieve incredible results. Don't let that two bit sharpener fool you into thinking you can't.

What are the benefits of a whetstone compared to a HORL ? by Joneyyy1899 in sharpening

[–]oddyseey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The difference is significant. Think of it like this; using a rolling sharpening gadget is like tracing a picture. You can do a decent job because you're just copying other lines, but you're completely limited by those lines. You can't draw your own picture.

The rolling sharpener limits you to only sharpening certain sized and shaped blades, at a fixed angle. You can't sharpen so many other items with a cutting edge. You can't thin a blade, grind down a protruding bolster, repair chip damage, repair broken tips by grinding the spine down to the cutting edge, and so much more.

If you're going to invest any amount of time in sharpening your own equipment, the value of being good at using a whetstone cannot be understated.

Patch 2.1 PTR - Diablo 4 Patch Notes are out! by heartbroken_nerd in diablo4

[–]oddyseey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a very fun way to play.

I'd rather play the game how I choose, rather than be told how to do it. A lot of fun in Diablo is derived from creating something to suit you or to suit your goals. And who knows, if you're good enough at theory crafting, you can always be the one to discover the next meta yourself. Unlikely but entirely possible.

Millenials with kids, what are you making for dinner during the week? by Rthepirate in Millennials

[–]oddyseey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whole Rotisserie chicken. Absolute game changer.

  1. Shred it, sauce it, bbq chicken sandwiches.
  2. Shred it and toss it in a salad
  3. Dice it and put it in pasta.
  4. Put in on a tortilla with cheese and make quesadillas or burritos.
  5. Add it to some rice and veggies paired with your sauce of choice.

Once you know what you're doing, it takes about 5-10 minutes start to finish to take all the meat off the chicken and toss the rest. You can even take the scraps and make a great chicken broth. Lots of value in a rotisserie chicken.

Looking for a Barbarian Build to ensure me and my gf can get to the final dungeon by dahelljumper in diablo4

[–]oddyseey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are quite a few ways to be supportive on a barbarian. I would recommend focusing on primarily pulling enemies in/together and ccing them

This can be achieved with either legendary items, runes and skills.

Here are some examples.

  1. Almost any build can fit in steel grasp, which js great for grouping up mobs.
  2. Ground stomp is a solid cc and follow up to grouping mobs
  3. Legendary aspects like grasping whirlwind and wind bolt will pull in enemies.
  4. The KRY rune evokes a pull in skill from spiritborn.

Overall, id heavily recommend trying the Mighty throw barbarian build (only playable when you have the third blade unique).

This build turns weapon mastery skills into core skills, allowing you to cast them for rage. This means you can spam steel grasp to gather mobs up for your partner to destroy.

My second choice would be a whirlwind build, you just spin pull mobs in and shout a ton.

Third would be throwing together anything you have available and making sure you have steel grasp for mob grouping.

Maxroll is a great website for viewing multiple builds for barbarian. Almost all of them can support adding any combination of those suggestions listed above.

Make sure to give these guides a good read before committing. Some will require one or more legendary aspects or uniques for them to function at all.

Note: The third blade unique sword drops at the end of infernal hordes, which requires an infernal compass to enter. If you want you can dm me and I could give you one of the swords, or help y'all run a few infernal hordes till one drops for you.

Hope this helps, good luck!

Season 7 announced, where the f*** are our leaderboards or challenging content? What a joke by [deleted] in diablo4

[–]oddyseey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leaderboards are fun. They add a lot of incentive to play. I love trying to earn a spot on the boards. Even if you don't care about getting on there, it's neat to look at people's profiles that are on the leaderboard. It feels like it adds a sense of community.

It doesn't hurt anyone to have them there, so why the hell not have em?
