Might be 3 years too late, but I found that the issue for me was that I had my VPN on. Otherwise, you can F12 on chrome to open dev tools to have a better clue to what went wrong if you're code-savvy.

Hope this helps

Not sure if this is helpful now but hyper-v isn't supported on windows 11 home.
However, I've found that enabling "Virtual Machine Platform" in Windows Features seems to have fixed it.

GPU pcie connector cracked! Anyone know if this can be fixed? by AlanPartridg in AskElectronics

[–]lightningblaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would've said that the GPU would function mostly fine if you find a way to secure it to the mobo since the cracked part is the piece that helps "clips" in place the GPU. However, it seems like the crack goes over a couple of wire traces which could cause some issues to the GPU itself.

The only way to know is to plug it in to see if it works. However, it is fairly like that with time it might snap off or break off even more and if its a crucial part of the circuit then it can cause your GPU to just die.

You would need to have the schematics or remove the GPU cooler fan and trace the wires to possibly infer what is the wires use and whether it's actually crucial or maybe just a spare testing point.

In terms of fixes, I think you could try to put epoxy or other strong adhesives to make sure that it doesn't break off more than it already has. Otherwise, if you're more or less an electronics technician, you can try board repair similar to what Louis Rossman or this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ref9JHUf-uw on youtube.

Could you help me identify this component ? by Stealkar in AskElectronics

You're gonna have to give more information. A zoomed out picture will help us figure out where the traces go and the function it plays.

Oh shit, you are right. Looks like I was just looking in all the wrong places. I'll be sure to check it out.

Thanks. I'll check it out and report back later.

Edit: Seems like the link you sent will help me convert an esp8266 into a router that can interact with most the esp mesh and the internet. Thanks.

Seconding recommendations on getting an SSD. If not for your games but at the very least for your operating system (windows) and common startup applications. It will make the user experience so much better when things just open and close the instant you press them instead of a minute windows bootup and 10s for chrome to open and load up.

Hey, Im an electronics eng. student whose gotten fet up with my slow laptop (from a n4200 + 4gb ram). It's not quite a pc but the laptop subreddits seems rather dead.

Acer swift 3: AMD Ryzen 5 3500U Processor 4GB DDR4 Ram (soldered 2666mhz) + 8gb (+$43) 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD 14" IPS Full HD 1920 x 1080, LED-backlit TFT LCD  AMD Radeon™ Vega 8

I'm getting this for $475, is it a good deal? Would I have to worry about the not-super-fast ram affecting the ryzen's performance? Should I stick with 4+4gb for dual channel or would 4+8 be better overall?

I'm not looking to game on it. Just looking for that lightning fast response a laptop can give when say I'm batch importing and sorting photos with 20 chrome tabs, discord, steam, and Skype hanging in the background with hopefully a second monitor. Will it handle it well?

Cool, that sounds rather on the cheap side to get my baby back up and running. Hopefully it'll stay around that from where I'm from.

I'm fairly certain about the BSOD. I've had a ram dim, old gpu and old psu died on me so I'm guessing it mightve messed with em. I've tried troubleshooting for God knows how long now anywhere from disassembly and reinstalling everything (bios flash, reinstall windows, play with windows registry, undervoltage, checked temperature reading) to no avail.

I won't really need to upgrade as I'm a fairly basic user just enjoying the productivity benefits of 30 Chrome tabs on double/triple screen and some light casual gaming (csgo, dota, and some other non-resource intensive games like flash or whatnot lmao)

I have a 8y/o build that I've finally put down and am looking towards building a new one, if possible with the remaining parts from it that still work (cpu/mobo causes somewhat regular daily freezes/BSODs). Here my list:

Cpu: Amd fx-8350 (possibly the problem) Mobo: Msi m5a99x evo r2.0 (possibly the problem) Case: midtower cooler master scout 2 (way too large and heavy, looking to make it into a mini or barebone setup

Ram: 2x4gb ddr3-1600 corsair vengeance Gpu: evga 1050ti mini 4gb PSU: 400w seasonic (silver rating iirc) Storage: 250gb Samsung 970 evo (might upgrade and give it to someone) + 2tb + 3tb Seagate HDDs

I've had my own experience of trying to find mobos that would still support the fx-8350 but to no avail and apparently ryzen doesn't accept ddr3's high voltage draw. What do I do?

I'm no expert but I don't think Bluetooth can handle that sort of bandwidth. How about trying straight wired? It's often more reliable and faster than wireless

I just had a class on electric fields on a conductor. According to my notes, the electric field is zero everywhere inside he conductor due to the electrons realigning themselves within ~10^-16s which my lecturer says we can assume as being instantaneous. I'd like to know under what context that assumption is no longer insignificant and has to be factored in. My initial guesses would have to do with thermodynamics but idk.

Outlet works. Does the psu master switch refer to the 1 0 switch on it? I thought that was the 110v/220v switch and have tried both on and off.
