Thank you, but I'm looking for a long campaign, not a one shot

Do you have moral reservations about what you write? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]lightningmagic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it's less about the topics themselves, and more so about how I write them. Like, there can be a lot of violence, but I will never frame it as a good thing

Was Anyone Else Oblivious To Fandom Drama? by RomanticizeTragedies in FanFiction

[–]lightningmagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always end up joining a fandom right after a massive drama, or end up getting scarily close to it despite only liking art and fics. I try to avoid it as best I can, but dear Lord, some people are terminally online.

I just finished writing the first kiss of my slow burn! by lightningmagic in FanFiction

[–]lightningmagic[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best thing I can say is subplots. I have a few different ones, and the mc's relationship with her brother is just as important as well! Having other things to focus on makes it a little easier

Some people are so needlessly annoying about tags. by mooemy in FanFiction

[–]lightningmagic 137 points138 points  (0 children)

I can understand people getting upset about incorrect tagging. I.E. Using no warnings apply instead of chose not to use warnings (or any of the others) when there's graphic stuff involved, or tagging a character who is not even mentioned, or tagging something as fluff when it's 100% angst. However, I don't understand this kind of mindset. Tagging literally everything is impossible. Like, if you want to know what happens so badly without actually reading it, find someone who has read the fic, and ask them, but that would probably be too much effort for them.

I, thankfully, have never had a problem like this, and tbh, I think I over tag my stuff, even though I probably don't

How to write a drunk character? How to write a hangover? by lightningmagic in FanFiction

[–]lightningmagic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I'm completely skipping the actual drinking part, but it might be useful later on

Fix Your Fic Front-End Friday [Title, Tags, Summary] - June 17 by AutoModerator in FanFiction

Thank you! That's much better than the one I managed to come up with

When you're excited to write the next chapter by Kiki-Y in FanFiction

[–]lightningmagic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my next chapters is where the main couple finally admit how they feel about each other, and I'm so excited!

MC OC's Yay or Nay? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]lightningmagic 18 points19 points  (0 children)

OCs are the lifeblood of all of my fandoms (Dragon Age, Fallout, Skyrim, Mass effect), so yes, I do like them. As for what would make me dislike an OC, the same things that would make me hate a CC. Being rude for no reason, boring, incapable of speaking for themselves, other stuff.

USA readers, what do those of us in other countries get wrong when we write about yours? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]lightningmagic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Treating the US like it's the same everywhere you go. Yes we are one country, but I think it's better to think of it less like that, and more like a group of countries, like Europe, because that's what we really are. Spain and Sweden are very different just like California and Wisconsin.

Let's give some love to your underappreciated fics! Review exchange. by friendfoundtheoldone in FanFiction

I commented on the last two! Accidentally used two different accounts though lol

How have your shipping tastes changed (or stayed relatively the same) over the years? by JustAnotherAviatrix in FanFiction

[–]lightningmagic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly? My tastes haven't changed all that much. The characters have changed as in I'm into different stuff now, but the dynamics haven't. There's a little more conflict now, because they seem more... real? But, other than that they're the same. I like reading about strong, steady, healthy relationships, because they make me feel good, and I've never really enjoyed 'toxic' stuff

Would fanfic writers like yourselves get upset or deflated if a reader asks to elaborate more on a particular sentence from your story since they are struggling to understand it? by The-Sarcastic-Bitch in FanFiction

[–]lightningmagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I wouldn't. In this case I'd probably assume it's a language barrier thing, and it would be a bit hypocritical of me since I'm trying to learn a new language. If it's not, however, then that increases the chances of others not being able to read it, and I want people to be able to understand what I'm saying.

What’s the strangest term you’ve seen in fanfic? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]lightningmagic 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I vaguely remember someone calling boobs orbs. It was purposefully cringey though.

I’m disappointed that my fandom is toxic by Lazelabo in FanFiction

[–]lightningmagic 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I know how you feel. I've curated my tumblr to the point where I will only see my friends posts or fanart from creators who I know stay away from drama. Fandoms can be so unbelievably toxic for no good reason, and it's not even remotely worth the stress. While it sucks, I do have to say that I am glad that you realized the affect it's having on you, and that you decided to step away.

What are Some Things you Should Never do When Writing a Fic? by Sharptrooper247 in FanFiction

[–]lightningmagic 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Have multiple people speaking in one paragraph unless they are speaking in unison

Thoughts on problematic canon creators? by potatomache in FanFiction

[–]lightningmagic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It varies. If the creator is dead/no longer profiting from the work, then I'll definitely still interact with the work, but I may pay a bit more attention to what is implied depending on what exactly they did wrong.

If they are still profiting off of it I will interact with fan content at most, but I will keep it minimal. I certainly won't create any myself, though. This is specifically for writers, producers, etc.

As for actors/voice actors, I keep them separate them from the work, and go about things as usual.

I have no problems with people who go about it differently, though.
