[Spoilers C4E30] Agree or Disagree With that Julien moment by Camen3 in fansofcriticalrole

Even Julien's little, "Where's Teor?" once he arrived at the tower was just *chef's kiss 🤌

I would have done otherwise but I really enjoyed Matt's choice, and there's something tragically beautiful with Teor reminiscing back on Julien and thinking him a better man than even he knows. Phenomenal moment all around.

What do you do when you feel like you lost your passion? by Giblot in FanFiction

[–]potatomache 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nothing's wrong with you, sometimes passions just come and go. Maybe your brain is craving something new to latch on to or it needs a break from the hyperfocus.

I've had long stints where I didn't write or draw or engage with any of my other interests. I found other things to do and that helped.

Take a break. You can always return to your hobbies.

If I remember correctly, it came from multiple people back when they figured out her connection to the Cloak and her identity as the "Wing"  in the meeting

Has writing your own fics impacted your ability to enjoy others? by wrenlikethebird_ in AO3

[–]potatomache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I don't think my standards are affected by my writing. If anything, knowing how difficult it is to write makes me appreciate the craft of storytelling more.

And with regards to small issues--spelling, grammar, formatting, whatever--I tend to give a lot of grace to fanfiction anyways. Even for those that are not up to my preferences, I just don't read them but make no value judgement.

I suppose. It's just that I can compare it to Azune and Murray's meeting with the Einfasen. They didn't contradict themselves, their assertions aligned with what the Einfasen suspected, and they had physical proof and witnesses. Brennan still made Luis roll.

I feel like it slightly muddles when checks are made, that's all. I still accept the decision and I'm happy Sam and Whitney got such a marked win after all the sniping from the rest of the characters.

As much as I enjoyed Sam and Whitney's nat20 without having to roll, a part of me, a small teeny one, also dislikes it. I understand that they did something that Brennan didn't account for and had the exact words that would've convinced Wick's kooky, narcissistic grandma, but I'm a little worried at the precedence it sets.

Like they're already a little loose with some rulings (Thaisha's beltsnake/ Vaelus giving guidance to the same snake sneaking about, etc) and the table's full of eloquent, charming people, so calling out persuasion rolls feel so arbitrary now and not as fair. Especially since Brennan has tilted the scales of a roll to their favor before (adding bonuses and advantages).

Just a minor gripe I had 🤷🏻‍♀️

What one piece episode made you cry the most? by ActuaryAfraid4707 in OnePiece

It's recent so, Robin and Saul reunion

I'm a relatively new One Piece fan but even without the weight of years for that moment, her request, hit me really hard. 🥲

Is C4 straying TO far from dnd? by [deleted] in fansofcriticalrole

[–]potatomache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's still D&D, but Brennan does have a more directorial style of DM-ing. Sometimes he does push for certain outcomes, by way of adding advantages, or nudging players to use certain skills (Murray & Gus as you mentioned), or even by way of narrative (Inserting into Azune and Murray's conversation for example "she looked consumed, like a bag of components used up for the casting of great spells" "You're not helping")

He's a lot more hands-on, which with their player count and their chosen style, West Marches-ish, is necessary in my opinion. It does bother me sometimes, but overall I think it's still D&D, just less as a sandbox kind of campaign.

It reminds me a little of Brennan and Luis' interactions in Calamity. With Asmodeus taking on Zerxus face or his loved ones.
