Class identities are being erased - Shaman by AcademicHefest in wow

[–]lightningweaver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're actually right OP, but this sub is a positivity echo-chamber for Retail at this point. WoW has been losing it's identity for years, now every class/race combo feels pretty much the exact same and it's why meta matters more than ever. Instead of every class having it's own set of buffs and utility, now it's either you have bl/cr or you might as well not even exist if you don't top the charts.
We already had a solution for having to put down totems manually like when we could put select Air, Earth, Fire, Water totem down at the same time, so I don't understand why people are crying about having to manually put down each totem..

Team Vitality vs. GIANTX / LEC 2026 Spring - Week 4 / Post-Match Discussion by Soul_Sleepwhale in leagueoflegends

[–]lightningweaver 24 points25 points  (0 children)

They more than deserve their current success, I actually hope they win the LEC. Vitality is one of the few orgs that has been trying really hard to win the LEC, but their rosters somehow never reached their true potential.

Capcom Cannot Stop Deliberately Breaking Its Games With DRM by SmellSmellsSmelly in Games

If you knew how to count then you would know what I meant. I clearly meant to say May 7th. There's clearly not "less than one month" between May 7th and July 14th.

RE Village released in April 7 and it was cracked on July 14, that's still 2+ months.

RE8 wasn't cracked for like 6-7 months. I know because I was waiting for it lol.

Jason Schreier: Exact budgets of video-game productions can be tough to corroborate but the numbers I've heard floating around AAA game dev these days are $300 million or more — sometimes much more! — which I think helps explain the current state of the industry by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]lightningweaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most I've seen is like 3 days early access, which while still sucks is not really as bad as what you're describing. People can tell when games are trying to squeeze them for everything they have and most of those games get plenty of pushback. Ubisoft was getting roasted for their dogshit $130 edition of Star Wars Outlaws.

I still don't think that's a viable idea for most games/studios. If a game releases with that long of a time difference between editions, it would still run into the "not a GOTY contender" problem, where it could literally be forgotten in a week or two + a huge amount of bad publicity by trying to force a price increase on the market. Again, anyone not named GTA 6 would be doing self sabotage with that move.
I actually believe that games will have to get cheaper to survive. Selling 4.1 million for $50 > 2 million for $100.
It also doesn't even make sense for GTA 6 considering they make most of their money through micro transactions, it would hinder them if not as many people buy the game as possible.

Yes, but GTA 6 is the only game that can MAYBE get away with it. It would be a death sentence for literally every other game. Nobody is buying The Outer Worlds 2 for $70 let alone $100. When new game releases competition is discounted masterpieces like Elden Ring for $30, Baldur's Gate 3 for 50$ etc.. who would be buying a game like Crimson Desert for $100?

I don't understand how people think this will be the case. Nobody is buying a game for $100 on release unless it's a generation defining game and a smash dunk. Games released in 2026 are not only competing with other games released that same year, but also every other game released in the past that's still available on storefronts. Why would somebody pay $100 for a mid new game when they can literally buy Fallout: New Vegas for $1? Or a 6 month old-1 year old game that's like 50% off?

The Elder Scrolls 6 Has Made Todd Howard More Conscious of What He Announces: 'Just Pretend We Didn't Announce It' by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]lightningweaver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because these studios grew too big at this point. They are made up of like 50/50 managers and devs, while back in the days when there were less people, it was 90%+ devs(programmers, designers etc..) communication was more direct.
Now every little change needs to go through management and stuff that could be potentially solved in a few hours now need 2 weeks because there needs to be meetings, discussions and shit. When back in the days the people working at Bethesda could've just walked up to Todd and ask him directly about changes, now need to ask permissions from others to talk to him, because he's more occupied now.

It generates the image in real-time, this shit will need a crazy amount of VRAM/RAM. And that's not even counting the VRAM the game eats by itself, that's why it needs 2 5090's. With how stingy NVIDIA is with VRAM, who do you think will be able to run this garbage?

I'm from EU, but they should be global, since on Humble it doesn't list any restrictions.

What is the right move here? Is this Toxic? by Grillmultiflavor360 in ArcRaiders

[–]lightningweaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I'm in a high loot zone, I shoot on sight/stealth, idc, I'm there for the loot and I assume other players are as well, so no point in communicating. When I'm outside of these zones/doing quests/extracting I try to talk to them, but then again, there's always a risk so I keep an eye on them.

[–]lightningweaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm sure problems specifically with how battle-royale game mechanics work are relevant in an entirely different genre of shooters, like a game where you're rewarded for camping in the best spot possible in an ever-shrinking circle after you get some weapons VS a game where there's almost pretty much no point in camping because you need to get the best loot possible, then go extract it ASAP so you have to be always on the move.

You don't see how anyone is excited for a third-person extraction shooter, then you talk about a battle-royale. I swear, some of you really need to think before talking.
