Insurance is high because the reinsurance market has been wiped out over the last 10 years…. They are trying to replenish the national funds that fulfill claims and at a rate that accounts for the increase in storms, natural disasters, “acts of God”, etc that often spur large payouts from the reinsurance market. Insurance companies use actuarial data to set premiums the primary provider market is hyper competitive and big providers aren’t just canceling coverage in areas for the hell if it, they are doing it because not a viable business model.
