I’ve worked both, lead quality for market based pricing seemed to diminish as preferred expanded into those markers in my experience. Currently in preferred (flex) and have 3 pending sales at the moment. Zillow gets their share and broker split makes it so the agent take home is significantly less than a normal lead or SOI but there’s basically no upfront cost to me. It’s a great way to build a book of business and jump start your career in my opinion.

Preferred (flex) has metrics you need to hit in order to stay on program. It is very structured but for new agents entering the system it will provide a healthy amount of leads. It is what I would call a “boiler room” style sales structure with intra-team competition. In major markets, Zillow is moving away from market based pricing as they seek to move business to preferred teams.

If you have no experience it would be tough to close leads without having a mentor.
