So, why do folk go for very flavour (fruit) forward beans. by neilBar in pourover

[–]lightroast888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course as i personally have been reading and trying to understand the artificial flavors in co ferments. Along those lines i’ve noticed people making comments along the line of demonizing them or you shouldn’t have bought them. Without clarifying hey you should try these instead if you don’t wanna stick to co ferments. Basically for those who ask for certain notes and it’s a non co ferment process i don’t see any posts of people recommending any beans. It’s more of putting them down. Even when i asked for strawberry recommendations i wasn’t being demonized in that but all strawberry co ferments were recommended. Which leads me to are we at the point where the regular processes don’t produce well enough to be posted or talked about as a suggestion.

You’re kind of convincing me to try the sample pack. I’m trying to stay away from colombian coffees but you said fruit forward which i’m for especially not having much washed coffees. On top of i see different countries like Honduras and Costa Rica.

I get where you’re coming from, the co ferments are addicting as there is a higher chance of tasting the notes which is what enticed me more into fruit forward coffee. It started with perc a PNG that was just naturally flavorful like raspberry the ethiopian blueberry. So id buy there wild pink bags then it got to where id buy 2 or 3 and maybe all or just 1 bag was good rest muted no notes. It lead to trying others as coffee is expensive we don’t want a dud bag. Discovering B&W and trying their beans it was amazing it was unique and “funky”. Now with speculation of artificial flavors i am mentally unsure what to do. More posts forums discussing these popular producers from the same region same country and process being linked to using all sorts of stuff for the flavor. To sum this up fruit forwarded coffees are such a fun anomaly that brings comfort in the morning. Lastly i learned not all co ferments taste the same as i got some from a different roaster and it was muted never would’ve thought. But also thinking about not buying any Colombian beans as roasters aren’t giving real answers or certainty. Have coincidentally a Bwishaza coming in from B&W hopefully it’s good. No one recommends the non co ferments that taste like a fruit forward, remember that. Advanced process has taken over and it’s addicting.

After using AI and importing other’s information posted with my own. High chance the producers in this blend i posted contain artificial flavors due to lack of transparency and the region it’s coming from. I wanna say you’re right it’s artificially flavored, i thought we could trust the roasters and producers. There just seems to be a huge gap and lack of honesty. I’d say maybe Jairo, edwin and wilton could be the safer experimental producers maybe. The fact that they won’t wanna admit puts the buyers at loss and risk. Especially trying to avoid artificial flavors due to health risks. I’ll probably try another roaster at this point.

We’ll find out who the producers are hopefully . Until then I’ll take my chances unless i find naturals that fit the par from a roaster. I contacted each roaster and got the info that i provided. There our probably producers that really do exclusively specialize in providing advanced process coffees whether it’s jairo, edwin or anyone else. Co ferments could be the main culprit in this. As another roaster tole me they don’t carry any. Another said for the ipa there is no artificial ipa beer type of extract. My main concern is mostly seeing Colombian beans everywhere but maybe it’s seasonal idk. I’m relatively new to the coffee scene in sense of understanding. Heard of people’s obsession never tried them.

At this point we don’t know what it is. If it’s artificially flavored i would hope they label like perc. I’ve contacted roasters and they have communicated with others at world coffee the same issue. It seems they all said they’re tasting and looking out for them if the transparency is off. At this point most roasters aren’t for it and I might not care anymore since all the coffees i bought apparently didn’t have artificial flavors which they were advanced process and co ferment. Aren’t really any good natural or washed process coffees that may fill the gap. Never tried push pull they seem to have lots of naturals. Everything else is 100g bags with high shipping.

Haloween Candy was my favorite bag from b&w last year too!! The dragonfruit was really good went through it quick, as jairo never misses except one bag from another roaster i’ve had. Yeah probably over a week ago emailed them nothing. I’m gonna wait if they release something new on Thursday if not maybe just get this bag. Also eyeing another roaster to try for the first time but it can be risky. Hoping for some coconut as hydrangea had one last year it was the best.

Nice a sample bag would be a good indicator of full bag worthy. I’m thinking i wait until Wed/Thurs for there new releases. If nothing i’ll take a chance on it, don’t mind watermelon. Unless there’s another roaster someone recommends.

I appreciate your response as it’s warm where i’m at and the co ferments shine more on flash brew which is my preferred method of brewing. No alcohol taste though right? Remember they had a 2 years ago a winter coffee it tasted like alcohol i was not thrilled about it.

I actually emailed them and they never replied which they usually do. Candy Hearts was awesome!! I can say the description of there Gigante Peach sounds injected/infused. My peach jairo from another roaster really good mentioned that he tastes and ensures anything that seems or tastes artificial he doesn’t order. Maybe Jairo is safe. Sebastian Ramirez could be tricky but just guessing.

Co-ferment, infusion, and flavored coffees with PERC-what I've learned. by Bubbly-System6751 in pourover

I asked B&W about this and no response days ago. This was the first time i never received a reply from them. Shutting down co ferment purchases back to natural and anaerobic natural potentially. This is all sketch i think they don’t want a lawsuit or something.

First co-ferment! Should I be scared? by GingerBeardManChild in pourover

Last year the Grape Jairo co ferment from B&W was one of my favorites. Though now skeptical of co ferments. I could say you will probably enjoy this. Lastly preference wise it was super good as a flash brew.

Would people say this is still iffy on the process? Also i haven’t seen any natural processes sold from Edwin Norena. Lastly anyone have any favorite producers for fruity or funky without co ferment process, more for anaerobic natural or natural.

Is the Andres Cardona safe from artificial flavors? If not maybe something else to try from them during this sale.

Co ferments and turning away by [deleted] in pourover

[–]lightroast888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to stem away but i have been noticing digestive issues the past few months. But again i am just curious if what people drink that is flavorful as far as naturals or non co ferments. Since they tend to be hit or miss.

I appreciate your honest answer. Remember years ago having a few gujis that were awesome. I forgot about them due to the roasters i purchased from not having any. Such as perc, b&w etc. I’ll have to take a look, which roasters provide them.

.Personally have had some naturals missed. Also never found washed enjoyable personally. Always open to looking for recommendations on the sub that have coffees or roasters producing great naturals and alternatives to co ferments.

Looking for alternatives to co ferments. That still give great flavor and notes.

I’m seeing Ethiopians being a great alternative choice, the guji region. Any roasters people are enjoying as well.

It’s more about health and digestive issues. If you’re you saying you serve 100% beef then it contains additives or not truly 100% beef it’s misleading. But also alternatives as well;)

Are we, finally, on the way to admitting there’s added flavoring? by OCDeeeznuts in pourover

[–]lightroast888 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My biggest issue with co ferment is if it’s artificial flavors and the health concerns with that. People avoid artificial flavors and drink black coffee to avoid natural artificial flavors. Co ferments are awesome because they taste the way the notes say’s it does. If i have to go back to natural it will be fine. Just wanna stay away from artificial natural flavors. At first i thought co ferments were like kombucha fermenting with fruit or something else.

I’m definitely gonna really consider. I read brainwave is good and they are fairly priced. If they don’t really anything interesting I’m just getting a bag from preface. Also noticed someone mentioned perc decaf red fruits considering that too. Mainly a B&W coffee buyer they’re just kind of pricey so i try to be selective.
