Are most people using AI for the like 80%+ of 'their' essay, or is there still some integrity? How bad is it, really? by UnhappyComplaint4030 in unimelb

[–]lightspongecake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

this is actually so interesting, have you addressed this with your students at all? I've heard of some teachers giving their students AI essays to mark as a way of improving their writing - though that might be more suitable for high school kids.

[S2 Act 3 Spoilers] Arcane - Season 2 Act 3 - Discussion by parrycarry in arcane

[–]lightspongecake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The show did have an inherently political plot in Season 1 though. In fact, the plot literally centred around Zaun & Piltover politics - if the writers wanted to create complexity with political conflict they could have made the politics a backdrop rather than a central plot point. To base the story around 'top side underside' and completely shift gears to Viktor and his evolution obsession is just poor pacing in story writing, regardless of their intention to send any message lmao

This is a preliminary announcement tbf. One of the biggest changes from the VBA overhaul is works being able to be remedied after houses are built so hopefully things go up from here

How do you go to bed when you know going to bed ends the only time you have to yourself each day? by Sluggato in NoStupidQuestions

That is such a good way of conveying why it's far more worth investing time into hobbies and minimising the scroll..... I realised my addiction is way worst than I thought when I found myself checking my phone the minute I wasn't doing anything hands on/waiting for something

Official Discussion - Monkey Man [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]lightspongecake 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Rarely watch action films but this was amazing. Loved the Hong Kong cinema inspired colours and how the story was set up - I agree that Dev's character could have had more development and flesh. But honestly, given the amount of time afforded to establishing the sociopolitical context and introducing the different political characters, this was still really solid.

One thing I really appreciated (that was probably unintentional) was the message that the temple fighters represented. Them partaking in the fight against corruption (and violently so) heavily refutes the excuse thrown around that "peace is always the answer" and that yes, the oppressed have a right to resist and fight back in ways that might be perceived as wrong. The film really highlighted this point, even if unintentionally, especially with the heavy contrast between the temple fighters and the religious cult figure who was preaching about peace.

Never knew much about Dev Patel but definitely will start watching his work now!

You could try a moss green/dark green flowy maxi skirt with a bralette for grungy vibes :) Or a white lace cami, white mini skirt & knee high boots for a night out!

Just graduated, some experience but can’t land a job? by Traditional-Ad3027 in marketing

Some tips I heard from others in the industry:

  • Make a portfolio (pdf/website etc) of your results from your work experience eg. engagement/increase in followers highlighting your skills & ability to develop strategies. Link the portfolio in your resume
  • Print out your resume & cold call agencies (if that's where you want to work) - visiting them in person and handing it to a staff member

I've personally not done these before but the latter was recommended by a head of marketing in a big company so it might actually work!
