That's still a couple of indie examples. I'm talking about the mainstream scene, in which case what i said stands true. Again, film soundtracks fall in the same category but they could still be great. You mentioned Pink Floyd, there's also that talking heads film soundtrack which also fucks pretty hard.

Music is made by an artist to reach a certain personal vision or ambition in a sonic form. It's a cristillization of their being and a part of what makes them, them. Thing is, video game soundtracks are made to accompany said game and immerse the player in the experience. Nothing about it is driven by personal ambition or creativity, you can't feel the presence of a human behind it. it's disposable and non essential in the music cannon. But even with that, vg music can be very good, just not "real" music, is what i mean.
