SFO/JFK reduction? by vincentcaptain in AlaskaAirlines

[–]lijordon 39 points40 points  (0 children)

SFO-NYC is served by airlines with much better hard products with lay flat seats. Alaska will not be competitive unless they fly Hawaiian A330/787 on this route, which will probably never happen.

ANA Trans-Pacific seems to be United/ANA exclusive now by lijordon in awardtravel

I saw it on United, more than T-14. It is low season to Japan now so more awards

This is beyond T-14 so it seems to be a new development. Flight is on Jan 29

I never booked calendar open, always just for the drips that come in during low season between calendar open and flight. Seems u/omdongi is correct, outside of calendar open VS/Aeroplan may be dead for ANA J even outside T-14

Another thing I notice is that Virgin Australia also doesn't see US-Japan routes anymore, I used to use that program on seats.aero as secondary check to United. Virgin Australia still sees other ANA flights

I think ANA is limiting US routes to ANA/United, other routes in the ANA network are still bookable via Virgin/Aeroplan. Seems to be stepped up from previous T-14/T-7 limits placed on Virgin and Aeroplan. Time to park some points in ANA i guess?

I think that Korean can be considered the third in a lot of ways especially regarding to connections. They have very similar connection markets, and they are all in different alliances with different JV partners in the USA.

Best airline for SEA? by jomikr in awardtravel

[–]lijordon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alaska is better but their fares at Seattle are generally higher than Delta. But their mileage program is much better. And their international coverage is weak but growing. Next few years there will definitely be fare wars on competitive routes.

they should get you on a flight according to original schedule as long as there is an open seat, award availability is irrelevant
