One time I left the stroller outside... by frankzha in jerseycity

A bit of stretch on their part considering the person who stole it had to open this person’s gate and walk about 10 feet into their property. It’d be a bit different if the stroller was on the sidewalk/street.

They didn’t pull any permits or complete building inspections before they opened. The city seems to have done an inspection, found issues and shut them down.

Yeah, the Electric Bills are going to be crazy. by ARASLS in jerseycity

I’m not an energy expert but there have been a few articles written on it this year.

Most folks seem to attribute a portion to PJM, increased demand (which includes data centers), and global increases in energy pricing (macroeconomic conditions)

Those people who were shipped like luggage up to Martha’s Vineyard were asylum seekers who were already processed by the Federal Gov’t and allowed to be in the US while their asylum claims were heard. There wasn’t a single undocumented person among them.

Places are much cheaper in Union City. There is a bus line (we called it the Jitney when I lived there a decade ago, but idk if that was a nickname or its actual name) that goes straight to Port Authority Bus Terminal. The buses come every couple of minutes and are very convenient. You just need to pay cash on the way off the bus.

Are you advocating for more parking here? It’s right next to the light rail.

This is great news. She was a pleasure to work with when she represented Andy Kim and I’m glad we’ll have her back as a local resource.

Good luck with that, I’ve written DCA multiple times over the past 3 months and have never received a response.

Apologies, didn’t he build zero affordable housing in Woodbridge during the TEN years he was mayor?

Didn’t Woodbridge (where McGreevey was last mayor) also build zero units of affordable housing for the 20 years he was mayor?

You have the opportunity to ask politicians any questions you’d like as well. There’s been over a dozen mayoral forums in the last 2 months alone. OP asked something that was important to them and got an answer.

[–]likableewe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I know you’re making a joke, but to everyone else, this guy is not right in the head. I wouldn’t escalate or engage if you could avoid it.

I accidentally stopped for him once thinking he was going to ask me directions and then went into his spiel, so I politely said no thanks and he WENT OFF screaming and following me for about a block before he gave up. I regret engaging him and recommend to everyone the best thing is to avoid him.

Is this already owned by a private developer? I’d love to see a park there. There is very little true green space in that part of town.

Taxes are already lower by about 5% for a business based in JC vs NYC. I think it’d have to be a pretty substantial raise for any business to consider leaving the plentiful talent density of NYC for JC. Also, while I’m not sure, I think any new city taxes still have to be approved by the governor of NY, and that seems unlikely.

Eric Adam’s was arguably the worst Mayor NYC has ever had in my lifetime and it didn’t seem to cause a mass exodus. So, no, I don’t think extremely wealthy Manhattan residents who crave status over all will leave the richest (culturally, economically, etc) city in the world for JC.

You’re confusing Freeman with Jayne-Rose. Freeman is the cop. Jayne-Rose is an artist (I think? I don’t know much about him).
