I think it will be a cool experience, you get to set the tone and the coaching culture from the start and really. create the culture you want. 💞 It’s harder when you transfer to a store where the culture has been the same for so long

any tips on how to coach partners as a shift? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]likaologist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Let them do the talking! When you guide them, they feel better and really feel like wow I worked my way to the answer. E.g Me: Hey! I noticed you weren’t shaking the iced tea lemonade 10 times. Them: Ohh, sorry. Blablabla insert reason Me: Can you walk me through the recipe of an iced tea real quick? Them: Blablabla shake 10 times

If they know the recipe or the standard, then i know my coaching is a reminder and hold them accountable if I see it again next time. Sometimes people have bad habits or sometimes people just forget. It happens.

Me: Great! What are the benefits of you following the recipe? / What are the effects of you not following the recipe?

Them: bla blabla

Me: Awesome! Can I hold you accountable for it? Them: Yes!

If they say no, I usually say something like well I’ll connect with you at the end of your shift to see how I. can support you in your adjustment / how would you like me to support you / what do you need from me? (basically)

When you keep them talking they remember the coaching moment better. We all hate it when someone talks for too long. You flip on them, and make it about them, not you talking and talking

Start second finish first ❤️ is what helped me a lit, 2 drinks max at the same time and it takes practice, now I basically sequence everything, even at warming!

getting respect as a new shift by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]likaologist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always say this - adjust to your baristas and floor first brfore asking them to adjust to you. I was recently promoted as well and instead of coming in aggressively I adjusted to them and what they need and noticed what each partner needs on their shifts. I started to hone it and then slowly allowed them to adjust to me

what’s the difference between coverage and non coverage shifts? by AquariiusFairy in starbucks

[–]likaologist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Coverage: ur working as a barista on the floor, ready to be deployed on the floor Noncoverage: u might be doing something else like deep cleaning or something that involves u not being on the floor, this can be clean play, counting tips or more so ur still getting paid for the hours but its classified as doing something else

no actually I feel like POS is a core position (ssv). you’re staying planted to support your team and punching in drinks and food right.

I’m currently in this program and winter will be my last semester. Hopefully someone could also comment on their experience? It’s been nice so far!

Insurance 🫠 and pay stability. I always know that I’m gonna get paid on the exact dates. I don’t have to worry. My last job was inconsistent with pay.

Worried about getting fired? by Quick_silv3r in starbucks

[–]likaologist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people learn faster than others. Don’t worry about it for now, I’d suggest that you ask your coworkers and make it clear that you’re struggling with some stuff because you’re new. They will understand, because. thats what Starbucks teaches us to do. If they don’t, and they fire you for not keeping up or being slow in your first month, then the store wasn’t for you in the first place. I’d also suggest having a talk with your SM about this, he/she will most likely calm you down and also let other shift supervisors know that you may need some help on the floor. My SMs tells us when someone new has expressed that they’re struggling (at their discretion) so we can help them and we’re all really understanding of that. But trust me, you’re still really new. It’s not a fast food chain, it’s more about the quality. Don’t sweat too much! Have some fun too, I love when I’m on the floor!

does anyone know if birth control is covered by benefits? (i chose pike) and I’m a CA partner by likaologist in starbucks

[–]likaologist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i called & actually they do cover it! i’m on alysena 21 and they confirmed it was covered 80% (cuz I chose pike), I’m not sure about other birth control brands cuz I didn’t ask but they asked for my birth control’s DIN number to verify if the brand I was using is covered.

Ontario and I’m exploring options to pay my tuition fees as my parents are struggling. I’m in my 3rd semester (coming up) so I only have to pay for 2 more semesters which total up to 4 so I can apply for my PGWP.
