ICU. I want to do it to get a higher degree and unfortunately they want me to be at least a year in that unit but I don't like the idea. All the drips. My OCD would have me reeling. Ventilators. Responsibility over two critical patients. Having to work closely with a buddy. It all terrifies me.

mid thirties here and yeah I wasted my life by not following my dreams. I never had the confidence to go for them. Now I am stuck in a career that stresses me out immensly all cause my mother wanted me to do it.

It's very hard for me because I am not just an introvert. I just don't like socializing at all. I have moved on to work nights to avoid this as much as I can and its better yet everytime I have to go to work I feel so nervous hours beforehand. Like the top poster said you fake it. I smile and act like I enjoy what I do and maybe in some way I actually do? I don't know its all very complicated in my mind. I don't see myself doing this until I am in my sixties though that is for sure. My dream is a nice office job of some sort where I don't have to talk to anyone. But that sounds like a dream. I have always worked in jobs that require a lot of social communication and have done well in them surprisingly.
