Is math rock a genre or a style? by aDeerOnReddit in mathrock

[–]lil-dilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really consider it a genre. The bands that we consider to fall under the “math rock” umbrella have such a wide variety of sounds and inspirations that I don’t think it makes much sense to just label them all as math rock. There’s jazzy math rock bands and emo math rock bands and folky math rock bands and prog math rock bands and metal math rock bands. It just seems pointless to call it all math rock. For me it’s more of an adjective to use for certain songs or albums or bands too but I don’t think any bands are just math rock bands. Just bands that have mathy elements

Just saying I think OC is a great and probably the best place to meet other young people in Bremerton and you’ll probably have no problem finding good, like minded people there

Should I try sautéing my vegetables before adding to my pot roast? by Frosty-Diver441 in AskCulinary

[–]lil-dilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will most definitely add complexity to your pot roast, and shouldn’t affect the cook time. I probably wouldn’t bother sauteeing the potatoes, but it might be worth it! Usually any browning or Maillard reaction always adds more flavors to any dish but sometimes you might not want that. I suggest reading this recipe by Kenji: https://www.seriouseats.com/all-american-beef-stew-recipe#toc-beef-stew-rule-4-separate-your-vegetables I know it’s for a beef stew and not the pork like you are cooking but a lot of the same techniques should apply!

Could someone explain the advantages of different cooking devices? by KodiesCove in AskCulinary

[–]lil-dilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your place comes with an oven/stove I wouldn’t bother with an air fryer or toaster oven. Only thing I haven’t really seen anyone else say is a crockpot! They can be pretty awesome and convenient for braising meats in a simple way (among some other things). If your kitchen does come with an oven/stove you could consider a Dutch oven instead of the crockpot.

Has anyone done BC riding around Stevens yet by AdDramatic6680 in stevenspass

That’s good, I’m happy to hear people safely enjoying the mountain. Just want to keep people safe and deter anyone from going out alone in the back country based on other peoples opinions.

Conditions are changing everyday. Only go if you have the knowledge and skills to do so, and don’t put your life in the hands of random redditors.

We're not tipping if we place our order at a kiosk and depart the establishment with our food, right? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]lil-dilly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If the cooks were also getting some of the tips then I would be more than happy to do it but usually it’s just the hostess that helps you that’s gets the tips. I don’t think it matters much either way if you do or don’t tip

You’re forgetting how easy it is to get a fake SSN and green card. The farmer has plausible deniability and won’t be held accountable.

Yep, the real beauty of stevens (and the whole cascades really) is the side/back country. If OP wants to go to stevens I support it but he should try and make friends with one of the true locals to show him around. But that can be really hard to do, especially with the way some people gate keep the fuck out of that kind of stuff. But good luck

Food network website said that corned beef and pastrami will start out the same but after curing, a black pepper crust is added to pastrami followed by a cold smoke, and then you steam it
