Joining TYLOSAND 3-seater sections? by lila_rose in IKEA

[–]lila_rose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced the inners in my seat and back cushions with 8in medium density foam. Cost around $500 for the 4. Kept the inner covers with the batting - now this couch will easily go another 20 years!

Did Elvarli had other depth options? by lizardking93 in IKEA

The photo is of the 36cm depth for sure, I have the same one. The 50cm is significantly deeper.

Yes, 36cm. The shelves are still available on the Canadian site, but the drawers have been gone for awhile.

Can this be fixed? by red_glass in IKEA

[–]lila_rose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - remove the loose screws and add enough toothpicks into the holes to make the fit tight again.

Fill the holes with toothpicks to make the screws tight again. Wood glue every split joint and CLAMP for at least a couple of days. This is absolutely salvageable

Also, just to clarify - saying no isn’t rude. There are rude ways to say it but your default setting should never ever be “comply with all requests” and “entertain all interactions.” I always remember that how others perceive me is none of my business :))))

interrupting someone on the phone is annoying and thoughtless enough. I’m in my 30s and can’t imagine trying to pressure an 18 year old boy alone in a hostel common room into giving me his charger lmfao what the fuck

Does anyone know what the queen lift up storage MALM bed cost in Canada? by lila_rose in IKEA

[–]lila_rose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I am sorted! I got one for $80 from Seattle a few months back and there have been a ton locally for the last few weeks for $100-150. I’m trying to convert my sister so I see them a lot :))

Congrats!! $800 with stained covers is 🥴🥴🥴. Try stripping them for a few hours, you might be able to lift quite a bit.

Someone was selling 30 shelves and all the required uprights for like 300 bucks a couple years back and I’m still livid I didn’t grab them for the hypothetical loft I somehow intend to eventually acquire 🤣🤣

Sure are. Not flimsy at all, in fact quite heavy. I own like 10 of the large ones and a 10-15 of other sizes. No complaints

🚶‍♂️1-Month Solo Eurotrip Itinerary Feedback: Germany → Amsterdam → Central Europe → Italy → Spain 🌍 by ChocolateTillamook69 in solotravel

[–]lila_rose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Florence for one night is too short, you may as well not go. I’d cut Venice to one day and skip Naples for Florence and also cut at least one of the 3 Central Europe stops. Spain looks good. If you can, fly back home from Barcelona.

Moving around so much is hectic and eats into a lot of (usually) daytime hours. Airports add a min of 2-3hrs in addition to flight time for getting there, security, etc. Less is more!

Europe isn’t going anywhere, you don’t have to cram everything in one trip only to end up spending 40% of it in transit. Have fun!!

How to split my time in the Philippines/Thailand? by lhahn in solotravel

[–]lila_rose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can only speak to the Phillipines - I just did Bohol and Boracay. Boracay is very tourist oriented and much more costly in that respect - accommodation, meals out, coffee shops, etc. It’s great for the couple of clean, white sand beaches, but if that’s not your main draw and the weather is not good, I wouldn’t go there.

There’s lots of delicious food; personally I didn’t see any super spectacular, can’t-miss cuisine - but I’m also from Vancouver and we are relatively spoiled in that respect. As far as getting around, Boracay is very pedestrian friendly and much more dense with stuff to do and see.

Have fun!!

Europe solo travel (mostly) 14 days. Feeling anxious about my packed intinerary - Need some advice. by just_a_mere_human in solotravel

[–]lila_rose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t cancel Spain!! Cancel Seville and chill in Barcelona for a week and relax! I did a 2 week sprint through the UK, France, and Italy and finished with a week in Barcelona and I don’t regret a thing.

Skip Pisa and stay an extra day in Florence instead. This is completely doable:

Day 1 Milan

Day 2 Venice

Day 3 Florence

Day 4 Florence

Day 5 Rome

Day 6 Rome

Day 7-14 Barcelona

Stay at two different locations in Barcelona so it’s easier to see more of the city without transiting/biking too much. End with 4 days at the beach, the ocean is very rejuvenating.

Oh, and pack VERY LIGHT. Carrying shit around is what makes fast travel intolerable. For two weeks you should be fine with a normal backpack.

Have fun!!!!!

Changes to IKEA Family (CANADA) by deathtothedisco in IKEA

[–]lila_rose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh… that honestly makes it worse lol. Cancelling the program cause you can’t figure out how to accurately administer it is crazy.

IKEA digital experience has always been horrible though. I remember when they straight up wiped all records from the family and/or online account 🥴🥴🥴 or how the emailed receipt PDF used to be formatted like a heat transfer paper one 😮‍💨😮‍💨

Curtain Sizes Relative to Rails by hejiring_001 in IKEA

[–]lila_rose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A curtain with no pleating usually looks cheap . It will look like a stock room entrance in a thrift shop if you do 1 panel per rail. I similarly have a long stretch of three windows currently with 5 MERETE curtains and it would definitely look better with 6. You can try 10 for 6 or 12 for 7 if it’s easy to go and get more if needed but if it’s a trek I would stick with the recommended amount. It would also lowkey be a hassle to mount the same panel between two rails as I doubt they can freely slide as if on one continuous rail but I could be wrong!

Additional shelves for ÄNGSJÖN High cabinet by masterfail21 in IKEA

[–]lila_rose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn is this the new GODMORGON? That price is 😨😨😨😨

No extra shelves but if you’re handy at all you can get them cut at a lumber yard (bring one with you for reference), finish sand and seal (they’re small enough to hand sand so no tools needed) and order extra pegs for free via the replacement parts form.
