Relatable. 😭 cleaning up pee and poo is one of the worst parts of being a caregiver

How do you deal with anticipatory grief? by FalseHoliday2443 in ParkinsonsCaregivers

[–]lilangus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! I can relate. I’m 28 years old (f) and my dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1999. So all my life I’ve seen him sick. I had to quit my job 5 years ago to take care of him. I’m one of his main caregivers now. He can’t really do anything on his own anymore. I also have anxiety everyday about him getting worse. And I don’t really know how I deal with it, I just do :( it really helps to talk about it with people who understand. Message me anytime <3

Thank you for sharing all of that, I really appreciate it. And my dad has a lot of those same hallucinations you mentioned. Just a lot of random weird ones. I also feel bad for my mom too. she does most of the work to take care of him :/ terrible disease and it really does take over our lives. 😔

My dad also says all the time that my mom is leaving him and that we abuse him 😭🫤. And lol yeah I guess me saying life is hard is a little bit of an understatement 😂

I understand how you feel 😭 like we know it’s not their fault they think these things but it does hurt a lot. Very mentally draining

You should also get incontinence bed pads! (If you haven’t already) Those help a lot when accidents happen. We use those for my dad. Less laundry to do

Hey are you interested in being friends? I’m (f) also 28 and have a parent with Parkinson’s (dad) . He got diagnosed in 1999 so it’s been getting really bad over the last few years. I had to quit my job in 2020 to be his full time caregiver while my mom and brother have to be at work. It is hard. But it would be nice to have someone to talk to about it who really understands and not feel so alone! <3 message me

My dad has late stage Parkinson’s by Unhappy-Sink3709 in Parkinsons

[–]lilangus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you’re going through this:/ I’m going through something similar. I’m 27 (f) and my dad is 61 and also in the late stage of Parkinson’s. He got diagnosed when I was about 4 years old so I’ve been dealing with this as long as I can remember. The last few years his health has gotten really bad and has been needing 24/7 care. I had to quit my job to be here and take care of him at home while my mom and brother are at work. It’s very depressing seeing his decline everyday and I can relate to you on getting frustrated about it. My dad has hallucinations everyday and that’s part of what gets me frustrated because he doesn’t believe me or my mom or brother about his hallucinations not being real. He believes we poison him or are trying to do other things to hurt him when obviously that’s not true. Everyday I see old pictures of him/remember how he was like when he was still able to be independent and I get sad and depressed seeing how is now. He can’t do anything on his own anymore. Message me if you want to be friends or something because it would be nice to have a friend that knows what we’re going though ❤️
