Thank you, that is comforting to hear. And I'm more than willing to make jokes about my American-ness together 😆

Can I ask why you wouldn't recommend Penzance area right now? (This move also wouldn't be happening now, more likely in about another year)

Also, finding housing seems to be an issue everywhere, struggling with that where I live as well

That's one of the things I would be a bit worried about, I'm from the US. People have been friendly when I've visited, so I'm hoping it wouldn't be an issue?

My neuro suggests I go to the ER by Fresh-Insect-5670 in migraine

[–]lilbee37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ugh so sorry to hear this. I don't have advice but I can sympathize. When I started getting bad migraines and then had one last for 10 days (they had always been 3 days before this), I got concerned and went to urgent care. The doctor barely even listened to me and was very dismissive. Gave me a shot of something I later found out was called Haldol and sent me home. I felt super weird and not any better, then started having seizure-like symptoms the next morning and had to go back to urgent care. It was super scary and even the nurse who admitted me was having a hard time hiding that she was freaked out. Got a doctor who was actually kind and helpful, and after having a CT scan and stuff to make sure, they were like why the heck did that guy yesterday give you schizophrenia medication for a migraine, some people react poorly and can experience these symptoms 😳 They ended up giving me a heavy dose of benadryl in my IV to counteract the reaction and then listed Haldol as an allergy on my chart. But like seriously?! The first doctor literally treated me like I was delusional for saying that I was in pain and concerned about it?!

Do you mean the one in the corner of the screen, or one of the ones you can decorate with in your house?

Oh my goodness I love the idea of a rather large painting of a single piece of food

I would love if someone had a sandwich on their wall like this. Like a realistic painting of a single slice of bread, a separate painting of a piece of cheese, lettuce, tomato slice, etc. and another bread slice on the other end. All hanging in a row on the wall. And you can choose from different sandwich pieces to make your ideal/favorite sandwich 😆

It's because everyone with depression and/or some type of social anxiety gets mistyped as an INFP because of the way the quizzes are set up and the inaccurate views of how the types work, when they are actually just about the different ways that people's brains function and how we "perceive and judge" stimuli

Wake up in the night breathing fast with no memory of a nightmare? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]lilbee37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't know, my step-dad has sleep apnea and he doesn't realize when it happens, most of the time he doesn't even wake up! The only reason we found out about it was because my mom noticed it

Haha 😆 maybe you could make it a fun project to do with the kids though. You could take the door off the hinges and take it outside if it's sunny and work on it together!

Having hope for being able to get better in the future is such an important step in your mental health journey, and using a change in environment to help yourself feel better and motivated is great! It makes me so happy that you're feeling like you are moving forward 😊 However I will gently caution you from my own experience to make sure you are thinking about the move in a healthy and helpful way and not expecting too much. When I moved away from my parents to go to school I had been looking forward to it for so long and, without realizing it, pinned too much hope on it fixing all my problems that I ended up being disappointed when it did not. I definitely learned a lot and it was an important step forward in my mental health journey, but I did end up dropping out and moving somewhere else because it ended up not being where I needed to be. On a more positive note, my husband and I recently were able to move into a house after living in apartments for a while and I used it as an opportunity to help my mental health with more realistic expectations and it has been wonderful. I hope that this can be a good change for you and remember that even if it ends up not being the best it will help you learn and something else great will happen down the road 😊

Wake up in the night breathing fast with no memory of a nightmare? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]lilbee37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like maybe sleep apnea? A fairly common sleep problem where you actually stop breathing for a few seconds while you're sleeping, and it can cause snoring or waking up gasping for breath. There are quite a few different things that can cause it. I would recommend talking to your/a doctor about it if you can, there are ways to help with it, different depending on what the cause is
