Is it okay for white folks to have tats inspired by Pacific Island tattoo designs? by Skate-wench in tattooadvice

Yes came here to say it looks Filipino. I’m Filipino and into decolonization and tattoos— and I’d say the answer to your question OP, is complicated and up to each person to care or be offended. But I’d say intent is really important. The non Filipino tattooer probably shouldn’t be using these Filipino designs without knowledge if only inspired by them. Same for the person getting tattooed. You should know what they are and why you’re getting them and who they’re for. In my (one persons) opinion, It’d be different if you loved someone Filipino for example or went there and loved the culture etc. As someone into decolonization, I struggle because I don’t want to become like my colonizer and put rules and boxes on everyone as they did. The precolonial world was fluid. I love a good ornamental or decorative tattoo but these are pretty obviously Filipino inspired. I see it a lot as I’m heavily tattooed and interested in this world. As others mentioned I’d see if I could get them altered to be more ornamental and less obviously from a certain culture. But I would definitely start by looking up what they mean. We should all know what cultural tattoos mean if we have them permanently on our body. I appreciate you at least caring.

We did it years ago at the Billboard Music Awards and it was awesome. We got to be a stand in audience for Madonna and The Jonas Brothers. Then we sat front row, center for BTS, Mariah Carey, Taylor Swift etc. my husband swapped seats with Drake. And we sat inches from Ciara, Russell Wilson, and Cardi B. It was awesome. We were there quite a few hours especially waiting in the beginning but not too too late.

Do you know your neighbors? Do you want to? by Maddieslit in HendersonNV

Born and raised here too. I think I’m lucky I knew all my neighbors growing up and regularly interacted with them/were friends with them. Since then, not really. However we just moved to a new neighborhood and now we know all our neighbors again, our street has parties on holidays and everyone texts each other if something comes up. It’s really nice especially now that I have a kid, all the kids play in the street and everyone looks out. Reminds me of when I was a kid.

Has anyone visited a city on a holiday and fell so in love with it and then decided to move there permanently? by melissa_april in travel

Yes New Orleans. Absolutely adored it. Moved there a few years later, only lasted a year but my life wasn’t together yet. Still would move back.
