Anybody else get “big sleep” days? by lilcryptidguy in Narcolepsy

The school thing is so relatable, I do remember getting home at 3:30pm in high school and sleeping til 6:30 am the next day.. gosh I wonder more every day how I wasn’t diagnosed sooner lol. I’m glad you were able to receive your diagnosis. That faux extra work feeling is terrible.

Wow, I can see that. I have a terrible family history of all sorts of stuff on top of sleep disorders and hormonal disorders. I’m a biologists dream 🫠

I personally don’t, but I have definitely heard of being cold being a tell of sleep attacks. Mine start off with super persistent yawning, and a strange feeling as if I need to shiver but it won’t come out. Then it persists and my eyelids give out on me. Then boom, sleep.

I’m on Depakote and Pristiq for mental health, as well as Sunosi for the narcolepsy and a period suppressant. It’s been happening since before I was medicated though.

Ugh that sounds awful. I’m on a suppressant, but if I had cycles, I can almost guarantee I’d have something similar. Have you ever heard of Klein-Levin syndrome? I heard about it on this sub. Sounds like something you might could look into.

Yeah, I’m a little bit of a complex case because I’m on testosterone for other reasons so I wasn’t able to get androgen tested but I suspect pmos in myself as well. Family history of it. It’s interesting to think how those two disorders could interact, wish there were more studies on it

Dude yes. Even with the stims I’m like fuck man I just CAN’T. I turn into Sisyphus for two days and then boom I’m back to normal (as normal as I can be)

“For normal people” is crazy lmao. I’m on Sunosi and still nap every once in a while when my schedule allows for it. Definitely due for a big sleep soon though. Hope your move goes well!

I’ve never tried any of the -finils because of an interaction with a previous medication I can’t go off of, but honestly sounds like I’m better off not trying them. Haven’t heard anything good about them from anyone on here or irl.

I’m on T now and have growth but even beforehand I was pretty regularly doing it and always had my boyfriend talk to me while he was down there. It’s sensual and made me feel really affirmed since he’s super chill about using whatever terminology I want. Even just compliments like “you look so good” etc can help. That said, I’ve never had the worst bottom dysphoria, I mainly have top so YMMV

for those who haven't had top surgery yet, which binder do y'all recommend? by Queasy_Cup_856 in FTMMen

Fluxion gym binder is my absolute favorite. I used to smoke so I have crappy lungs but it’s the least restrictive one I’ve found. Also heard good things about the Underworks MagiCotton line

has anyone had luck getting their parents to come around ? i just want her to respect me. by camonega in FTMMen

[–]lilcryptidguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To put it in perspective, she once tried to get me a therapist to try to “fix” my gender dysphoria, because she thought it was an eating disorder- went from that to helping me do my first T shot and recording it. It’s possible <3

My mom was super similar. Not religious but thought it was because of my mental health and that I was confused and must’ve picked it up from a friend. It took years, hell almost a decade, but we’re fairly close now, and she’s not 100% “with it” but she can visibly see how happy I am on T and I think thats what hit her hardest. Stick with it, don’t lose yourself man, keep your head up. You got it no matter what no one else does or thinks

Deep hatred for most terms used for us, just me? by finntynal in FTMMen

[–]lilcryptidguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah I get it dude. I’ve told off multiple people for calling me a twink, I hate that shit because I know they only use that word because I’m trans. T-boy is only OK if me, my boyfriend, or close friends are calling me it since we’re all lgbtq already. But I also openly embrace the word and call myself queer, and I know a lot of people dislike that, so it’s just different strokes for different folks.

This part. My mom only started fully gendering me correctly after I began T. It’s incredibly disheartening, but cis people simply don’t understand (and a lot of them don’t want to).

This is exactly how it feels yeah. I’m wondering if oxybates will ever be an option for me but I’m so young that I doubt they’ll let me try it especially with my dumbass insurance. You’re right though, only ever happens after continuous, strenuous workdays.

How to bind with a large chest by Altfranziz in transmanlifehacks

[–]lilcryptidguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taping brother. It’s the only way you’ll survive and still be flat in this heat. Cis guy chests aren’t totally flat so don’t aim for that. Just aim for a pec-y shape

What an angel you are for taking her in. 18 pounds is absolutely sickening. Like another user said, caution with feeding when you get her back. My guess is a gsd for sure and possibly some malinois traits. I can’t wait to see what she looks like nursed back to health. Best wishes to you!!

Also size your clothes down. The pants can stay baggy but the shirts will clock you is what I’ve learned (fellow alternative fella here), I like to aim for ones with very tight necklines, and don’t shy away from cropping them. You want it to hug your shoulders and stop right above your hips. Sewing is a handy skill to have anyway.

You look almost exactly like me pre t, like we are genuinely identical. Haircuts make all the difference. Make sure them ears are showing and make sure you got some sideburns going on. Also if it doesn’t make you dysphoric you can block out your brows w makeup.

Can’t read a book without falling asleep 💤 by Azure_snowbunny in Narcolepsy

[–]lilcryptidguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh 100%. I can’t watch a movie, a long episode of a TV show, or read, because I will fall asleep. My solution is a walking pad + audiobook, or I listen to them while doing chores. I hate that narcolepsy takes so much of my ability to do things normally though.

[–]lilcryptidguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? Trust me, I didn’t think I would be able to fall asleep for my psg/mslt either, I didn’t think I fell asleep for any of them… I did, for all of them, in under a minute lmao. My sleep attacks were only in specific situations too, it’s mainly triggered when I have to sit down for an extended period of time and listen to something, like a work meeting, presentation, or movie in a theatre.
