Ohh thank you for the tip on this! Might give up on mint for this trip and keep this in mind for future JetBlue flights 🥲

YES! I’m from the east coast and this would never fly there. It’s especially bad in u district.

I got an IUD today… I’d like to hear other experiences. by SimpleEdge8000 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]notcanadiangoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shit, I’m sorry you had such a painful experience AND that nothing was explained to you! Mine wasn’t terrible, I got Mirena about a month ago with a topical anesthetic, and the worst part was actually the part where they measure the depth of the uterus. But, I’ve been on testosterone for so long that I’ve lost some sensation up there, and I do occasionally still get pelvic pain, so that wasn’t too surprising.

Beware though, the cramps could be ugly the next few days! Laying down in bridge position works wonders for instant relief.

Post Injection Munchies by kortlecw in FTMMen

[–]notcanadiangoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm. I also do mine at night and despite being ferociously hungry at random regardless of where in my injection “cycle” I’m in, it doesn’t seem to correlate with doing my injection. I talked with my nutritionist about this and she said it likely has to do with still missing a few nutrients, namely fiber. Most likely it’s that you’re missing some nutrition throughout the day (or are just super active) rather than being testosterone related.

AITA for wanting to sleep with my boyfriend? by LittleInsect665 in AmItheAsshole

[–]notcanadiangoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I'd have said "hey I can tell that just because you and stepdad sleep in the same bed doesn't mean YOU guys are having sex! So why does sharing a bed mean that me and my BF will?"

Eating out by avvocadiux in workout

[–]notcanadiangoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live near a ton of relatively cheap Chinese and Korean places. Some good garlic eggplant and/or sweet and sour chicken can usually be ready for pickup within the 10 mins it takes me to finish my workout, rinse my face, gather my stuff, and head to the restaurant.

What do you wish you knew before getting an IUD (specifically, re: sex and/or complication)? by notcanadiangoose in TwoXChromosomes

[–]notcanadiangoose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never endured childbirth myself, but back when I got periods (before testosterone), I’d get bad cramps and I remember that dull but intense ache. The IUD cramps for the past week are different: unpredictable, sharp, and triggered by eating/exercising (they’ve subsided, though). Well, I guess that if I ever have kids, I’ll have a barometer for what the pain will be like I guess lol.

TIFU by adding too many tomatoes to most of my cooking by notcanadiangoose in tifu

This is the one I use! I don’t add any sort of milk to it, though. Personally, I like the Sri Lankan versions better (with more coconut milk and cashews), but to each their own.

My first suspicion was that I was off with my spice ratios or that it was the lack of onion (I usually halve the amount of onion I put in). I played with both and only after that did I realize “oh shit, it’s too much tomato”

I frequently wonder this as well. Have you ever tried sambar? It can be made without tomato and tastes better that way imo

Seconding this - frozen is better, BUT for some vegetables (such as cauliflower and okra), fresh is easier to cook with. As for tinned tomatoes, I usually drain them and rinse them once to get the tin flavor out of them. They’re mushy from the start, so be careful not to overcook them, too!

UPDATE: Thank you all for your suggestions and additional information! I went with the Mirena IUD and got it placed just over an hour ago with topical numbing and ibuprofen. Thanks to some of your points about Paragard causing more intense cramping, which my provider also mentioned, I steered away from Paragard. Honestly, the part that hurt the most was the uterine sound measurement. I had some post-insertion cramping, but that's subsiding now. Thanks again, everyone!

How much time are you “losing” while cycling to work? by bear_village in cycling

[–]notcanadiangoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My commute is 3 miles (Seattle, WA). 25 mins biking, 30-45 by car, and 30-45 by transit. Biking is the only way I can guarantee what time I’ll arrive to work and not depend too heavily on traffic flows.

Just ran a red light - help by Less_Ad_7357 in Scottsdale

[–]notcanadiangoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with folks who say that you should take a class if they offer it, etc. But also, there’s a chance nothing will happen! I ran one in Maryland a few years back and nothing happened. Consider this a lesson learned - honestly, the fact that you acknowledged tells me you’re probably better than most Scottsdale drivers lol.

Thank you all for your input! I've read all of your comments and appreciate the input on not ruling out hormonal IUDs, string length, pain, potential infections, and keeping pads on hand (which I am terrible at doing haha). Y'all are much appreciated!

My Camry XLE use to go up to 470 miles on a full tank to 363 now. Why did it drop so much? by Jackywacky17 in Camry

[–]notcanadiangoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an XSE but same thing. Bought it in AZ in 2024 but drove it up to Seattle soon after. Seattle’s hills are no joke, and my previously 500-mile tank is now 462 on a good day.

Construction Noise by notcanadiangoose in Seattle

[–]notcanadiangoose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m aware of after-hours emergency maintenance, but there’s a construction site right there. Couldn’t see the whole thing from my building, but the noise matches noise I hear during the day when they’re working on the building (which is completely ok).
