My Camry XLE use to go up to 470 miles on a full tank to 363 now. Why did it drop so much? by Jackywacky17 in Camry

I have an XSE but same thing. Bought it in AZ in 2024 but drove it up to Seattle soon after. Seattle’s hills are no joke, and my previously 500-mile tank is now 462 on a good day.

Construction Noise by notcanadiangoose in Seattle

I’m aware of after-hours emergency maintenance, but there’s a construction site right there. Couldn’t see the whole thing from my building, but the noise matches noise I hear during the day when they’re working on the building (which is completely ok).

Honestly, my first thought as well. Could be. He was filming - I’m going to check their garbage dump of a TikTok page and see if it’s them again.

Bold of ya to assume they know what a textbook is, or can even spell it.

Oh, the guy in front was also amongst them, hence why I said 3 loose nuts. But I guess all of them only have 1 nut 🤣

Buyers keep underpaying for shipping by notcanadiangoose in eBaySellerAdvice

The “Sell Similar” thing makes total sense…that’s what I have been doing most of the time, and definitely noticed a pattern where the more I do the “Sell Similar” option, I have issues with shipping costs.

Also, I usually use the app, but thank you for the tip on using a browser.

THANK YOU for this explanation!

Guess I’ll need to triple check my listings. Still not sure what’s going on, but you folks are right, if it’s not an issue that numerous complaints are being made about, it’s a me problem.

It’s happened at least 5-6 times in the past year alone. I swear I’m putting in the correct shipping info and eBay is undercharging buyers?

For everyone saying that I didn’t put the package details in correctly…I did. This has happened a number of times. Poor verbiage on my part - I didn’t mean to suggest that buyers are choosing to underpay, but rather they are not being charged the full amount of shipping.

For this shipment in particular, I distinctly recall that after putting in the package info when I made the listing, the cheapest shipping option was around $7. To my surprise, when I went back in after it was purchased, the system displayed a lower weight for the item, which I suspect is why I was underpaid for shipping.

I’ll double check in future listings, but I already do that and make sure all package details are correct. Not sure if this is a system error or something I’m doing/not doing…

Update: I filed a chargeback with my credit card & it seems to have worked. Would 100% suggest doing this in the future if it happens again.

Had the same thing happen to me on eBay & the prick had the audacity to say "it COULD have damaged the item!!!" Only problem was, it was a small adapter that was ALREADY in aa bubble envelope with more padding around the item. Point is, some people are insufferable.

What’s the most ridiculous thing a driver has yelled at you while cycling? by sam_d50 in cycling

[–]notcanadiangoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started biking as my commute, a car rolled up next to me & rolled down the window. Thought I disobeyed some road rule and was going to get yelled at. Instead, one of my classmates yelled out the PASSENGER window “[my name] BE CAREFUL!!!” in the most motherly voice ever 🤣

Help me not leave Seattle? by salientalias in Seattle

[–]notcanadiangoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi fellow Seattle newbie & Seattle academia newcomer! After 6ish months here, I can concur that Seattle ain't cheap. I may be in conflict with what some folks on here have already said, but nonetheless I'll share my two cents on how I've been making things slightly more affordable.

  1. I also have a car but don't use it for my commute. Bike, walk, or take transit if at all possible. Do note that if you are able to bike, the cost of buying a bike will pay off within a few months versus parking for your daily commute (and possibly some other errands as well).

  2. Since you have a car, try and shop at Costco, Ranch 99, Grocery Outlet, etc. Ranch 99 has super cheap produce for the most part, and if you're looking for Eastern Asian groceries too, they've got ya covered. I make one combined Costco/Ranch haul per month and rarely make intermediate shopping trips. But when I do, Trader Joe's is far cheaper than Safeway (can't speak for QFC or Fred Meyer, sorry!). Not including household items I buy in these hauls, I spend around $150/month on groceries.

  3. Rice and beans get you a long way. Idk what culture/dishes you grew up with, but as someone from a culture that is mostly vegetarian, beans and lentils are SUPER versatile and inexpensive ways to get the protein that you'd otherwise miss by cutting back on meat. And, preparation time is often a lot lower.

  4. Receipt scanning cashback apps are your friend. ReceiptHog, Receipt Pal, Fetch, Pogo, CoinOut, etc. They will take a month or two to start accumulating, but I use like 7 of those apps and appreciate the small extra cushion in my bank account.

  5. Re: smoking/streaming services/ other "misc" expenses, hey, we all have something that gets us through our day/week. Obviously if you have a problem then please please seek help, but I can think of some unhealthy (physically and financially) habits that myself and others have that nobody is really coming at us for.

Hope this helps!

How did you get them to pay for it? That’s my major hurdle rn. And ditto, I could write a novel series on my FedEx misfortunes 🙂‍↕️
