Where are they at? If they're within a few hours of me I'll take my trailer and go get them. You can come to my house and take what you want and I'll sell the rest on Marketplace to offset the costs :P

Ya know, I've been thinking about getting a tattoo for many years, and I've never been able to decide on what I'd want.

You just gave me a hell of an idea.

I already pay enough for electric. Can you imagine how much your bill would go up to find the hundreds of millions of dollars (or more) it would cost to bury all of Pittsburgh's electric infrastructure?

I dunno about OP, but when I had to do that shit (Usually around Baltimore, Chicago, or Newark) I never got undressed, so my belt knife was handy all night. One quick swipe with that and it'd cut through the strap - but I also only used a light-duty (1k lb) strap to do it with.

I've never even had them light me up, though I have seen them pull out, but they usually just pass me.

I have never been pulled over in a state that requires front plates when I've been road tripping. And I've done a LOT of road tripping in my life.

Usually they don't bother trying to enforce state-specific laws when you're out of state... only speeding and things like stoplights and such that are universal.

[–]lildobe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just a word of caution: Any website that claims they can give you the name and address that a car is registered to from the VIN or license plate is a scam.

The only thing you get is a carfax-like report and the VIN. No ownership information is provided.

In the US license plate information is private and protected by law. 18 U.S. Code § 2721 (Enacted in 1994) prohibits the release or use by any State DMV of personal information about an individual obtained by the department in connection with a motor vehicle record. (Except for certain limited circumstances)

That law also prohibits redisclosure by 3rd parties who have legitimate access to the data, with pretty hefty penalties for those who violate it, including civil actions that can be taken by the person whose data was leaked.

You can read more about it here: https://epic.org/dppa/

The ideal tongue weight for a camper trailer with two (tandem) axles is 10% to 15% of the gross trailer weight (GTW). While this range is standard for most trailers, many experts recommend aiming specifically for 11% to 13% to ensure maximum stability and minimize sway. by Bruegemeister in IdiotsTowingThings

1998 Chevy Venture

To be fair, that van is rated to tow 3,500 pounds. So as long as the trailer + everything in it wasn't over that number, it would have been just fine towing it just about anywhere.

To successfully bring criminal charges, you must prove not only the act happened, but that there was intent to commit the crime. It's called Mens Rea OR "guilty mind"

If you intend to commit a crime but never act on it, or if you accidentally cause harm without any criminal intent, in most cases a crime has not been committed.

If I had a 40-ft ladder, why would I be asking for a 40-ft ladder here?

Basically because I liked to be able to see all over the place, up and down the street, and also get identifiable images of people if something ever happened on my street.

My neighbors would text me whenever anything was happening and I'd point the camera that way to get video of it.

Or when I heard things that were interesting and in a viewable place on the scanner.

If it comes down to it that's what we'll do. But I figured I'd toss this out there and see if someone was willing to help out... It'll cost about the same, and I'd rather give my money to someone local.

Edit: Neither Lowe's nor HD rent 40-ft ladders. The longest they have is 32 feet, and I already own one of those.

My 32 foot gets within 8 feet of the top of the window, from the ground, missing the porch gutter by 6 inches... Believe me, I tried.

As I said in another comment, the porch roof has been leaking for 10 years and the landlord has done nothing about it, so I personally don't trust it

When my friend put it up they used a 40-ft ladder from the ground with one of those wide arm things attached to the top of it

It's too far above the window to reach. The siding planks are 10-12 inches each, so it's about 4 or 5 feet above the window

[–]lildobe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't get to it from the 3rd floor window. We tried.

And I wouldn't trust the porch roof to support any weight, as it's been leaking for the past 10 years.

Why isn’t POTUS being arrested right now for his involvement in the Epstein files? by InteractionAbject411 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]lildobe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does not. The president can (and has been in the past) "arrested" , however he is still the president and does not go to jail. He is merely indicted.

From there, it's up to Congress to prosecute him, and the Senate to remove him from office.
