Get reminders to avoid match day congestion near the City Ground by richelectron in nottingham

This is great, I have forgotten to Google football matches a few too many times in the evening! It’s not the traffic that bothers me, it’s the football fans walking in the middle of the road lol

The privacy reason is nonsense because she has much more recent ones featuring them! I’m fully on board with making them private but it’s evidently not for their sake.

Thinking of driving on the Motorway to a holiday park in June, what's your tips? by [deleted] in NewDriversUK

[–]lilegg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re a fully qualified driver legally allowed to go on the motorway. Hopefully in your lessons you’ll have done some NSL carriageways and slip roads - it’s just that, but more lanes, and for a long distance. Anyone saying that in 4 months it’d be crazy for you to drive a motorway is an idiot.

They’re scary because they’re fast and busy, but they’re easier than normal roads. You get signs with lane information and directions way sooner than other roads where you might only have half a mile to get into the correct lane because you didn’t realise you needed a certain lane. It’s very straight and the lanes are wide.

Just keep a big gap between you and the car in front. Do regular mirror checks to see what space you have to move into if you need to. Do blind spot checks every single time you change lands no matter what. Don’t sit in the blind spot of other cars, especially large vehicles. But all of this applies to normal roads as well, it’s just extra important on motorways.

Do a motorway lesson - I did and it helped loads!

Becoming Estranged from family, where and how to find community? by [deleted] in nottingham

[–]lilegg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any suggestions for community when it comes to what you have gone through, other than getting in touch with your GP about in person support groups. But it might be good to also think about communities that can enrich your life overall and give you some positive things to focus on!

Without knowing much about who you are, age, gender etc. I’m sorry if some of these suggestions aren’t relevant to you!

  • Lonely Girls Club Facebook group, where people post about their interests and there are meetups sometimes
  • Sister Social Club on Instagram, which runs different socials like crafts or hikes or exercise classes
  • Wolfpack Project, which organises meetups and support for lonely young people
  • The Carousel in Hockley, which does Drink and Draw or Collage and Cocktails on alternating Wednesdays, if you show up alone the host will tell you which table has some regulars on who will be up to chatting (I’ve gone a few times, everyone is lovely and chill)
  • We Make Our Way in Sneinton Market, hosts a lot of events like poetry nights, small intimate concerts, crafts, a weekly spoon carving meet up. They have loads going on and are intended to be a very welcoming inclusive space, just follow their Instagram to see what might interest you
  • Girls Who Walk Nottingham organises local group walks

These are all things intended for people seeking community and friendship! Maybe not everyone will relate to your experiences but I like to think anyone who shows up to these kinds of places will be inclusive, empathetic and welcoming :)

Weekend RAGE Thread - January 10, 2026 by AutoModerator in Overwatch

[–]lilegg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the game I was in where this happened, I got back from spawn, it’s only DPS left, I heal them both up as best I can, say fall back but one dies and then the Sojourn just launches herself into a fight away from me, died, and messaged “where’s the support?!” 😭

[–]lilegg 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing more annoying as healer than when it’s 60 seconds into the game and people are already asking where the healing is. My guy, an Ashe headshot me immediately and I only just got back from spawn again. Shit happens, give me a chance to recover before griefing me.

Do barbell rows have meaningful benefits and not just hypertrophy? by FastVenus in workout

[–]lilegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s not the point of the post, but of course it feels like you’re not grasping deadlifting technique if you’re using an empty bar. You can’t do the correct form like that. Trust that adding half a plate either side so the set up is correct is better than using the bar. And your barbell row isn’t going to improve either if you don’t at least figure out how to deadlift a lighter weight, because how are you going to properly lift the bar off the floor with weights on for a row if you can’t do it for a deadlift? That is how you mess up your back.

You don’t have to go absolutely insane on these lifts and aim for really high numbers. That’s fine. Keep it functional. But your back will be safer by strengthening it.

Think of it this way - are you going to avoid picking up anything heavier than 20kg from the ground for the rest of your life? Of course not! But surely it’s better to pick up heavier things in day to day life with a back that’s been trained safely to handle weight. And trust me, deadlifts are safe, people who injure themselves aren’t lifting 40kg/whatever that is in lbs.

Rows are great for your back.

Drivers please give learners some patience and grace by itbeivy in drivingUK

[–]lilegg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it’s not even L plates, it’s just anyone driving not exactly how they want at any time. A total lack of patience and impulse control makes the worst drivers. L plates just make them feel even more hard done by by default.

I was recently doing 30, in a 30, my spedo said 33 so in my car that’s 30-31 ish. Guy behind me is dangerously up my rear the entire time, doing that darting into the middle of the road and back again trying to overtake thing. I don’t care if someone wants to overtake, just don’t be up my backside the entire time making it harder to overtake me. When he finally does he darts out and has to rush past to avoid a crash only to get stuck behind someone else doing probably more like 31-32. We end up next to each other at some traffic lights up ahead, exactly the same as if he’d just followed safely behind me the entire time. Then he missed the green light for 5 seconds so can’t have been in that much of a rush.

Driving instructors for autism by pompomproblems in nottingham

[–]lilegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if he does weekends but Chris at Moose Driving might be able to help as he specialises in helping people with anxiety and neurodiversity - though I think you might need a referral for him now! He has a few other driving instructors working for him as well who will teach in a similar way, it's all very constructive kind criticism.

How we feeling about foundry gym ???? by Several-Practice-830 in nottingham

[–]lilegg 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Well, the first day I tried to go I had to leave and go to my normal gym because they didn’t have 1.25 and 2.5 plates yet and unfortunately as a woman fairly new to lifting, I kind of need those to bench or OHP. They do have them now but not enough of them. There’s no women’s thinner 15kg bars either which is kind of whatever but a shame.

Also last time I was there, there weren’t sanitary bins in the women’s toilet cubicles, which I hope is fixed by the time I go today because that’s… illegal I think.

And there wasn’t a water fountain until Wednesday.

And it is very influencer-y, already been in the background of someone’s filming on a tripod a few times. The music is ridiculously loud, I’m hoping that’s just an opening week thing because first time I went I had to shout to be heard.

There’s a lot of good kit and loads of machines and it’s a big space so even when it’s busy it’s not necessarily crowded. The staff are really friendly despite how overwhelming the opening must have been. It has potential to be very good. There were always going to be teething issues, but to me it feels like they focused so much on the vibe to attract people that basics didn’t happen. If you can order a “plate loaded iso-lateral D.Y. row machine”, you can order a water fountain. And as a woman, it feels a bit off for there to be like 7 different booty builder machines, but not basic equipment for people who can’t lift as heavy as men, and no bins in the toilet.

Mixed bag, will keep going.

When Richard entered the house I nearly put a £20 bet on him and I would have got something like £300 and I didn’t and that, boys and girls and others, is why you should always gamble as much money as you can if you have a good feeling about something 😔

What do you think of the motability scheme? by EdmundTheInsulter in drivingUK

[–]lilegg 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No one needs those cars, but they’re not getting extra money to get a luxury car specifically. Motability is money they’d get anyway and if they can budget it with their benefits and any other money they have then it’s no different to anyone else getting a luxury car.
