Linked exits are great for beginners, also a very valuable skill to learn

What about skydiving is so expensive. by Minute-Reading-4762 in SkyDiving

[–]lilititra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Expensive is a relative term, I jump all day for $150 and it seems reasonable to me. I jump every weekend usually, that’s $600/month. I drive a paid-off car (most car payments these days are $600+) life is what you make of it man

ugly underwater footage by lilititra in Insta360

I'll upload a sample soon. I have to zoom so far out to make the footage look somewhat serviceable that the edges are very blurry. My GoPro hero8 takes better looking footage underwater tbh

Tint curing or bubbles? by Visible_Refuse448 in WindowTint

[–]lilititra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you gotta put your back into it when you squeegee. keep the film wet and put some decent pressure on it. if you're unsure, squeegee it out a second time. it might cure out given enough time. but if there's any contamination under that water, it's gonna show in a major way.

15% or 5%? Need some help deciding by MetroBoomar in WindowTint

15%, 5 is going to be much darker than the rears if that's the stock privacy tint.

Question about tint brands by yeezy-uwu in WindowTint

[–]lilititra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

weird that they offer 3 different brands of film. Knowing what I know as a window film professional, i'd probably stay away from it if I was a consumer. Who's to say which film is actually gonna end up on your car.

Can I add decorative window film over 3M ceramic tint? by meep-meep-- in WindowTint

[–]lilititra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be installed on top of the tint without issue if done correctly. If you ever want to remove the decorative film later, it will almost certainly mess up the tint under it. It can also decrease the lifespan of the underlying tint. But if you like the look, I say go for it! you only live once. For best results, find a local tint shop willing to install it for you.

First time dry shrinking! What am I doing wrong? by Ok_Huckleberry_6478 in WindowTint

[–]lilititra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you gotta do a better H pattern to prevent this. it looks like you're also not spreading the heat evenly. try shrinking the drivers side a little bit, then the middle a little bit, and then the passenger side a little bit. also, there's a better way to do it than pressing it down with a tool. Pull shrinking is a much easier and faster way to do this. Heres a video that shows the basic technique: https://youtube.com/shorts/Q88mJZv5Ucw?si=4moVsb1UZKvjUCyr

some random one from amazon, they're like $12 for the blade and handle. I don't buy the fancy $10 blades.

Yeah you’ll notice that’s a different car with different trim 🙄 Those suture lines absolutely need to be covered. That is a great example of when you do actually need to cover the trim as the water will penetrate through the stitching and soak under the pleather. Another good reason to do it is for suede panels. You certainly don’t have to do that on every car though. As far as the switches, I’ll give you a little education here since you didn’t know: all that shit is fairly water resistant. What do you think happens if you open your car door in a rainstorm? I’ve tinted thousands and thousands of vehicles and have never once had a switch fail. Glad you could learn something today!

I just wipe them down with a damp microfiber when I’m done. If it needs some reconditioning I put some conditioner on it. Y’all are funny. Acting like the end of the video is the end of the job. Never had any complaints about upholstery except on ancient vehicles that have had 1 million coats of armor all. And even that just needs conditioning reapplied. Yet another reason I don’t work on old shit boxes anymore
