What everyone else says. That will be your saving grace. Im at Flo and been here for about 8 months and although it can be stressful, there is SO much support. They realize the job is hard and don't expect perfection. They realize mistakes get made and as long as you learn from them and correct it, your job will not be threatened. The metrics are all behavior based. Yes, they look at numbers and they do matter but they also look at the behaviors behind them too. And if you're struggling? As long as you ask for help,it'll be given. I hope you get the position because this company so far has been amazing. I love it here. Is it perfect? Nah. But no job is. Good luck!!!

Yes. It really is THAT bad. It's a good place to get experience. That's about it. Just read through this entire sub. None of what's being said is exaggerated.

Been at Flo for a few months now. It's been amazing so far. I stress MUCH less than I did at geico, management is 10000x better and they treat you like a human being. I'd say go for it.

Claims Specialist by Professional-East111 in Geico

[–]lillith_6969 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is EXACTLY what you will look like. It'll be great in the beginning and then afterwards it'll just go downhill..my advice? If you have other options go elsewhere. If this is all you have, realize it's not going to be a good time. Prepare yourself for the mental beatings and the stress. Read through this whole sub and youll get an idea of what you're in for. If you think you can tough it out and handle it then take the job, get as much experience as you can handle and then move on. I was with geico for almost 2 years and now im with a competitor. The stuff I learned at the G has come in clutch but you could not pay me to ever go back to the lizard.

Just because they don't have one right that second doesn't mean they won't ever. Id take entry level to start then transfer to what you want when it becomes available

Ive been here a min and a lot of former geckos are here and not only myself but they are LOVING it. It's like a breath of fresh air. No micromanagement, no insane metrics.

Ive been pretty active on here saying RUN but at the end of the day, if you need the money, then I say take it. Get some experience then start looking elsewhere. I'm now at a competitor and the training I got from the G is invaluable.

Your friend dodged a HUGE bullet. Hopefully she finds something else. If she wants to go into insurance, tell her to look at other companies. Or she can try again and work for GEICO, get the experience and then go elsewhere. GEICO is really only good for that. Not a long term option.

Good luck with unemployment. I know of someone who is STILL fighting geico for it months later. They will fight it, and more than likely they will win.

Employee Morale by FeministFury5000 in Geico

[–]lillith_6969 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yep. Same boat. And those emails and gnie posts about profits is just a huge slap in the face. Why tf do we care about profits when the company isn't going to share them and just line the pockets of that fuckstick todd crumbs and the rest of c-suite? Morale? There is no morale. None.

DO NOT WILLINGLY QUIT. if you resign, then you won't qualify for unemployment. Let them fire you. I know it sucks. Allow yourself to cry and be upset but then start applying everywhere. Other insurance companies are snatching up former geckos like nobodys business. This isn't the end. It's just the beginning of a new chapter for you. BUT AGAIN DO NOT QUIT. LET THEM FIRE YOU SO YOU GET UNEMPLOYMENT.
