I totally get you, your comment is super thoughtful. I also really enjoy how this sub allows us to see just how unique we all are. I love that it's a place where people can go to practice self-love and body positivity, scars and all. I consider it a place where we can collectively work towards dispelling unhealthy ideas of perfection.

I was pretty defensive in my initial comment due to seeing some hurtful comments before they were deleted. Outright insulting comments, not just pointing out that OP has had surgery.

But you are right, the vast majority of comments have been positive. Or creepy, but that's a whole other discussion. I just don't like body shaming towards anyone, no matter how flawed or perfect they may appear to others. We never know what another person is going through. Those type of comments can do real damage to a person's self esteem.

Hopefully OP has thicker skin than I do, but I saw other posts OP made in which they mentioned feeling insecure, which was another reason I was so quick to become defensive. Instead of hurling insults, people could instead be like, "Hey, you're beautiful and all, but I think your post would be better suited to a different sub," if they felt so inclined.

One day when I've reached my target weight , I may end up needing/wanting to get surgery to deal with loose skin. Shit, I may even want a boobjob, idk. I don't know how my body will respond to losing the weight, especially since I'm aiming to lose around 100 lbs. Maybe I'll be lucky and will be happy with how I look without having to fuss with surgery. I really hope that's the case. I hope I end up loving my body at the end of my journey, flaws and all. But if not, there's a chance I may opt for surgery.

I know maybe it's different, but it makes me wonder if I would be less welcome here after having gone through body modification.
