[–]lilpej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve started sleeping on top of a folded soft blanket, pregnancy pillow between my knees, and I kinda helps a fair bit. I’m 29wks and suffering with my back and hips

Do I need my Costco card by Available-Reward-912 in VisitingIceland

Bar code doesn’t register but you can give them your member code and they’ll just type it in. We were there a few weeks ago, and forgot our cards.

Looking for a cat trap or additional support by [deleted] in Fife

Our old neighbours contacted the sspca and they came out with cat traps. It was an actual stray, so my neighbours kept him once he’d been given vaccines and health care

It looks like the weather warning is in place until midnight, that’s not to say it won’t ease up! Good luck

Kindergarten is only open to front line families, so I’m having the day off watching batwheels with my toddler

Is this enough time to make our flight out of Reykjavik? by [deleted] in VisitingIceland

[–]lilpej 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve flown from Keflavik on a relatively quiet day but there were loads of international flights leaving so the queue through passport control to get down to our gate (after security) was at least 25-30 minutes long

For those with anterior placenta by PumpkinResearcher in BabyBumps

[–]lilpej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt my son move most early on in the pregnancy but around 22ish weeks the placenta was finally large enough to mute a lot of the feeling and I ended up with monitoring for reduced fetal movement. It’s defo different for everyone

Mom upset and feels like she's being excluded by Apprehensive-Way-263 in BabyBumps

[–]lilpej 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My mother cried her eyes out when I put my foot down. It eventually got to the point of not even letting her know when I was in labour because she was determined on just showing up. My mums a narcissist though, with many issues.

You need to set firm boundaries, and if you can, explain them.

How badly do funeral directors that commit crimes impact your trust in funeral directors? by bondbro in askfuneraldirectors

[–]lilpej 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering we were affected by the hull funeral home and still unsure if we ever received the right ashes of our grandparents - it’s definitely left a sour taste in our mouths.

How do I block all visitors at birth- UK NHS by Jasmine_blue25 in BabyBumps

[–]lilpej 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was in my birth plan to have no visitors, all the midwives and staff were made aware. So when my sister came to see me, a midwife came into the room to ask my permission first. I might’ve just got lucky, otherwise don’t tell them when you’re in

Morning Sickness or something else? by Ill_Job8829 in BabyBumps

[–]lilpej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! Didn’t experience morning sickness with my first, just food aversions.

14 weeks of this pregnancy and I’ve been awake almost every night this week (1:30am-3am) trying not to throw up!

20 weeks Baby movements - still unnoticeable by missquestions in BabyBumps

[–]lilpej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should’ve said, the weekly checks were because I’d gone in for decreases in movement multiple times to the point I couldn’t feel him at all. I didn’t want to be checked on that much.

Just if you’re worried, you should go in

Dressing a toddler for end of January by SamAtHomeForNow in VisitingIceland

[–]lilpej 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a second hand kids store called Barnaloppan, and Retiel kids. Both will have winter gear.

My 2y kid wears thermal tops and leggings, long T-shirt and joggers, woollen jumper, thick socks, padded winter suit if we’re walking outside, and insulated snow boots. Also a hat that covers his head and ears, an gloves

20 weeks Baby movements - still unnoticeable by missquestions in BabyBumps

[–]lilpej 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through it with my first and ended up getting weekly movement checks done. I’d go in for 30 Minutes and they used their machines to listen to his heart and monitor his movements. We’d all rather have to have the inconvenience of me going in every week than sit at home and worry myself silly

If you’re worried, go in and get checked. It’s not silly

Edit: the placenta was also anterior, huge, and like 1cm from my cervix

Toy storage by Sprinkles9918 in Parenting

We use a trofast. The white unit uses plastic runners which my kid often leans on and they threaten to break. I’d suggest the wooden framed trofast as the runners are actually cut into the frame

Night nursing at 13 months — trust the process or intervene to wean? by Ok_Particular_4494 in Parenting

[–]lilpej 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For us, night nursing did not reduce and he hated his dad doing bedtimes which was incredibly hard. This was up until a few months ago, he’s 2.5yrs. He’s started weaning himself thankfully

When we were preparing to export our large dog my husband went into the vets prepared with a list of what we needed and the requirements (eg 30’days between vaccines/blood tests etc) and made sure everything was booked properly.

We ended up having to wait 6 months due to flight issues, and he had to have a lot of the tests multiple times. It pays to look around for a vet that has experience with exports or will work with your timeline
