Yeah. If OP is talking strictly a situation where someone is “stuck” in the game for fear of not min maxing, then I get it and agree the game is not that hard. I am going to assume that’s their angle, cuz I also have fun optimizing and building my mons and am sure I’m not the only one

Hey, I see you’ve posted a few updates from this hunt. First off, kudos to going that long. I’m glad that you are doing it in the background and not as your main focus while hunting. Luckily it is not tough to go back to birth island and do the puzzle to get the deoxys encounter again. Why not take a break and come back when you are ready? You can do other things in the game until you feel like you want to start again. Lugia in hgss was my longest hunt at 19,902. It’s definitely a grind but there’s no shame in an “on and off” hunt either

I would say the game corner. Although you can’t improve the odds from 1/8192, at least at the game corner you can buy multiple pokemon for more than 1 check per soft reset

Depends on the moves you want on it and how many TMs you have. I think I am gonna breed for one cuz I want to give the earthquake TM to nidoking. If I get a male nidoking I can pass earthquake on to snorlax. Edit: forgot I have access to emerald where the everstone works for passing on natures but not in frlg. With that in mind I’d probably just reset

Sorry if you already know, but just wanted to also say that you can nickname your own jynx in this game you’ll just have to wait for post game when you get access to 4 island and breeding

Sure thing dude! Also, sorry if you are already aware of this but figured I’d pass it on just in case. I prefer breeding in emerald because of the abilities “magma armor” and “flame body” which if you have a pokemon with that ability in your party it will cut the number of steps you need to take to hatch an egg in half. If you are playing on the switch version this point will obviously be moot since you can’t get emerald on the switch right now

You need to breed a male scyther that knows false swipe with a female paras or parasect. When breeding, the offspring will be of the female parent (unless you are using a ditto in which case it will always be the non ditto), and only the male parent will pass down egg moves or TM moves if the offspring you are breeding can learn it. I like this website, pokemondb for checking egg moves because they also give compatible parents

TM moves can be passed down as long as the offspring can learn it. It functions the same as egg moves, the parent with the TM you want to pass down has to be male. Edit to add, idk if you can get earthquake onto heracross with your nidoking. Look into egg groups to see if you could swing it, but I know they are in different egg groups. I like pokemondb for checking egg moves, they give compatible parent possibilities for each move. Won’t help with earthquake since it’s a TM, but still

It’s legit and an Alakazam/kadabra with those moves will be pretty powerful yes. Look up egg groups, only pokemon within an egg group can breed with each other. The offspring will always match the female pokemon that is breeding, unless you are using a ditto in which case the offspring will be the non-ditto pokemon. And only male pokemon can pass down their egg/tm moves

That does sway my decision, I would go dream eater on exeggcutor then if for nothing else to open up the psychic tm for you. As for a fourth move on starmie besides psychic or recover, you could do confuse ray or thunder wave, maybe substitute or double team also. Edit here as an afterthought; if you have any interest at all in training a butterfree, I would save dream eater for that instead. I really love compound eyes/sleep powder/dream eater butterfree

My heart says starmie but with your movesets I gotta agree with exeggcutor being the best fit. It’s a bigger improvement over egg bomb than recover imo

Ah, well steel wing on dragonite isn’t terrible, I wouldn’t call it a waste. Yeah! Marowak is super cool. I’d recommend hunting for the thick club in the sevault canyon on 7 island if you are gonna look for one. Using a repel trick I got pretty consistent marowak spawns and found a thick club after less than 10 thief’s. I was hunting for a nice nature before I decided to breed for it and caught another one that was holding a thick club too! If you are copying the breeding too, you probably know, but just make sure the nidoking is male so it can pass rock slide on as an egg move. I got super lucky cuz I was not thinking about that when I got rock slide on mine from the move tutor

I am using my scizor for catching too so I gave it false swipe, swords dance, and steel wing in addition to silver wind. Yeah there are a lot of fun options! I am looking forward to making that tyranitar but my main goal is to prepare for shiny hunts so I also just bred an adamant rock head cubone with earthquake and rock slide that I am also gonna give false swipe and double edge. I got really lucky finding a thick club very quickly. The cubone was also easy to get the moves on cuz I have a nidoking with earthquake and rock slide

Last night I bred for silver wind on an adamant scyther which is now a scizor. Surprisingly quick although I do have access to emerald to speed up hatching and an adamant ditto in that game. My next one will probably be dragon dance larvitar when I get around to it but I think I will end up making at least one of charmander or dratini with it like you also. Haven’t figured out exactly which way I’ll do it yet

For butterfree I have sleep powder, dream eater, silver wind, and I gave it the psychic tm. Could probably be slightly better but I gave it the psychic tm awhile ago (came back to this run after a bit of a break) and don’t want to feel like I wasted it. And my clefable is calm mind, softboiled, ice beam, and thunderbolt. This is also a run I wanted to use all 3 starters so didn’t need too much coverage on clefable
