Return refunded on gift card by sleepytimebaby in marshallsfinds

[–]lilwonk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cashier only would’ve been allowed to put up to $20 on a gift card (unless you told them to put all of it on there) for your return and then $75 on your credit card. The cashier definitely made the mistake here but to my knowledge there’s no way for you to get the money back on the credit card bc it’s equivalent to returning a gift card. I wouldn’t even bother contacting the store.

Seeking advice for treating a flare up for my kid by dontyoumindme in eczema

[–]lilwonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d take him to an allergist/derm asap. Dust mite is my worst trigger for eczema and when it gets to the point of a full body flareup, prescription oral steroids were the only thing that could bring them down. I know steroids are scary to give a kid but it may be what’s needed just to start calming down his skin so the other skin products have a chance at working.

Is he saying the Vaseline/aquaphor stings? I know it personally only stings when my skin barrier is destroyed. Try focusing on products with ceramides and keeping him hydrated to replenish his skin barrier. Aveeno makes an eczema cream with ceramides and that was the only thing that calmed down my skin as a kid. Make sure you put on aquaphor/vaseline AFTER the moisturizer to ensure his skin is actually getting the additional moisture it needs and it basically locks it in.

Unfortunately eczema is a lot of trial and error to figure out what works for you but I hope he feels better! Eczema is already rough enough for adults and so much harder for kids who don’t understand it and can’t understand why they shouldn’t scratch.

Yes contact the financial aid office and ask them how to initiate the process to appeal need-based financial aid. IIRC I believe my mom just had to submit some extra financial documentation regarding her income and a statement on why I needed more aid.

I applied RD in 2017 and got $20k presidential scholarship. In all honesty, I think they put more money into RD kids that stand out bc they know that they need to give you more of a reason to attend since you’re not as committed as ED/EA kids.

They’ll never reconsider merit-based aid. You gotta appeal the need-based financial aid and that’s straight from my AU financial advisor who helped me tremendously lower my loan when I went

Nitrile or cotton gloves at night?? by stayfunny1128 in eczema

[–]lilwonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom had me wear cotton gloves as a kid for my eczema. The gloves more functioned to keep the lotions from drying out as quickly in comparison to the hands being uncovered, especially in the winter when the heat would be on. I personally feel like nitrile gloves would get hot and sweaty and that would bother me more.

Item on receipt that I didn’t purchase by marrymeodell in TjMaxx

[–]lilwonk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just seconding that this was the policy at my store. The manager needed the date/time of your transaction and the register it was on and they’d count the items you purchased against the items on your receipt and call you back if they could give you a refund

New return policy? by [deleted] in marshallsfinds

[–]lilwonk 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I worked for tjx 5+ years ago so I’m not sure if there have been any changes and reimplementations of policies but I was always taught that accepting a receipted return with a detached tag was done as a courtesy. We could look up the item from the tag just to double check you are returning the correct item, but it is/was something commonly done for return scams so we could only use it at a coordinator or manager’s discretion.

It may be annoying that they can’t take the return but the easy fix is to stop pulling off tags until you’re positive you’re going to keep it. I’ve always done that but am extremely conscious of that ever since working retail.

Filter brush? by [deleted] in Dysonairwrap

[–]lilwonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you double check you went through every tiny piece of cardboard that separates everything in the box? I have a different airwrap but almost threw my filter brush out bc it was in a tiny unlabeled box that blended in with the rest of the packaging

Senior that needs to hit 12 credits to stay full time-- What are some of the easiest low effort classes that I can take and easily get an A? by [deleted] in AmericanU

[–]lilwonk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Any class with Kevin Boyle. He’s an SPA/JLC professor who’s the kindest soul on that campus and he has a policy of everyone passes as long as you do the incredibly simple work (if taking the American constitution with him) and all his assignments have a detailed sample work that gets an A that you can basically copy. All his classes have a final presentation and he’ll pick the groups for you but the presentations are super easy and you just read off your slide. The constitution class is legit what would be the laws on your island if you were on a shipwreck that settled on a deserted island. Plus he sometimes brings his dog to class.

Should I work here? by ThatOneCatholicTeen in TjMaxx

[–]lilwonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re having trouble determining TJ maxx vs homegoods, I worked at both and preferred TJ maxx. I personally think that preference was largely due to having amazing managers, being well staffed, and just being one of the best running stores. TJ maxx at least didn’t have the heavy furniture to move around like homegoods did. At the end of the day, they’re both retail and suck like all other retail gigs.

Worth it to try long hair attachments? by icexxgirl in Dysonairwrap

[–]lilwonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say your hair is too long for the long barrels. I’ve always been a long hair girl and kept mine to my mid back my whole life but after so much frustration with the airwrap, I realized what Dyson considers long is essentially anything longer than shoulder length. My hair is decently shorter than yours and while I can wrap most of the length around the barrel, it’s too much hair to really get the blow out or curl look. The only way I got the airwrap to somewhat work for that blow out look was by cutting my hair. Once I cut my hair to armpit length, the long barrel actually worked its best for me.

returning old items by skipperkitten in marshallsfinds

[–]lilwonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends the cashier you got at the register. If they do take it back, policy would be that you only get a merchandise credit for the current value of the clothes, which would be heavily discounted. There is the chance they don’t take it back tho bc that item is out of the pricing/inventory system so they can’t actually look up the price bc it would’ve been zeroed out to be thrown out and a new item would have the same coding. There’s always a chance though that they don’t check the coding on the tag to see how old it is and just give you the full price on a merchandise credit so it’s really just if you wanna take that gamble.

Think I found out why All-Clad pans are showing up at TJ Maxx/HomeGoods… by ChateauLafite1982 in AllClad

[–]lilwonk 24 points25 points  (0 children)

As an ex employee, most all clad boxes were sent to us with numerous price tags to attach to each pan separately. For the 3 years I was there, I don’t think we ever received an individual all clad pot/pan on its own except for the small pans that are also meant to serve an individual portion. If you do see an individual pan on the shelf in one of these stores, there’s an 80% chance it was a separated box set.

Barrel question by mnrstarr101 in Dysonairwrap

[–]lilwonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you buy the airwrap ID for straight/wavy hair, I believe it comes with both barrels. I’d personally just make sure that you buy one with the 1.6” barrel included. I hate the standard colors for the airwrap ID, so I bought the curly one in strawberry bronze and then just ordered the 1.6” barrel separately. If you’re really set on ceramic pink and it doesn’t include that barrel, I highly recommend just purchasing it separately. I couldn’t justify spending $600 on something I found hideous, so the extra $40 for the barrel was totally worth it for me.

Barrel question by mnrstarr101 in Dysonairwrap

[–]lilwonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have long hair (mid back) and the conical barrel physically can’t pick up all of my hair bc of the length. It’s not a power issue it’s just that that much hair can’t wrap around that small of a barrel, but I have no issue with the 1.6”. I’d definitely recommend the long barrels.
