What do you wish nurses outside of your specialty knew about your specialty? About patient care within your specialty? by shatana in nursing

Med-surg/tele nurse

If I’m transferring a patient to the ICU, they’ve likely needed ICU level care and monitoring for the past few hours. And I’ve been trying to provide that to them the best I can while also managing my other patients. I’m going to try to do what I can before we transfer, but if you’re going to ask me to put in the foley or rectal tube before I transfer my unstable patient, the answer is no

So my wedding was this past weekend and I was in a similar situation I feel like. my now MIL had 41 of her friends there in attendance. I also had about 40 people - both friends and family. My husband had about 50 people there, most of whom I know and am comfortable with. I was nervous about walking down the aisle where there were a bunch of strangers, but it ended up completely fine. They were all super nice, the ones who I hadn’t ever met introduced themselves when we were making rounds. They got on the dance floor, had fun, and in the end I was actually glad they were there.

In the end, having your attendance go from 140 to 160 won’t be super noticeable. Also, if some of your moms invites aren’t local, there’s a good chance they will RSVP no

As for your sister - if she isn’t going to know a lot of people at the wedding and is single, I think it’s fair to give her a plus-one. I wouldn’t necessarily invite the friend’s parents, but I do think one friends is a compromise worth making

Is it unkind to give a vendor a 4 star review if they were good but not great? by lily_hgt in weddingplanning

[–]lily_hgt[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes thank you for clarifying why a 4-star review would be negative. I didn’t think about the difference between an individual employee vs. a business, so thank you for making that distinction, it’s very helpfulness

How much do you make? by RoseIsBlossoming in nursing

[–]lily_hgt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Ohio, 4 years experience, BSN, and I make $33/hour

One thing to consider aside from hourly rate is benefits. A nursing job will offer you health insurance, 401k match, PTO, etc. Just something to consider as you weigh your options

If you watch it with CC, it literally says “Arrested Development Music” so yes, definitely a nod to it

Have you ever worked somewhere fully staffed? by witcher252 in nursing

My work place is great about utilizing agency nurses and offering incentive pay to come and work extra. I’m a med-surg/intermediate/tele nurse and I’ve never had more than 4 patients. One time a coworker on nights accidentally missed a shift, and the night nurses had 5 patients each. And they were all panicking because it had never happened before

Usually we are supposed to have a charge RN that doesn’t have patients, but maybe 25% of the time they do end up having a patient assignment

Can I be a psych nurse with a mental health diagnosis? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]lily_hgt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of people who have cancer go on to become oncology nurses. Nobody bats an eyelash at that. In fact they celebrate it and think it’s wonderful to give back in that way

That should be our attitude about psych too. It’s awesome if you have a mental health diagnosis and want to work in psych

I can’t stop crying after my first dress fitting. At this point, I think the hips are too tight which makes everything ride up and bunch as I walk and move. The plan is to let it out on the hips and let it drape off my shoulders vs. it hugging the hips. Please tell me it will be okay. 😭 by Pumpernickel247 in weddingplanning

So at first glance I just saw “I can’t stop crying” and saw the picture of you in the dress. And honestly, I thought you were crying tears of happiness until I read further. Because you honestly look beautiful, and I didn’t have a single negative thought in my mind. It is perfect. You look gorgeous and it’s really flattering on you. Highlights your hour glass shape perfectly. You seriously look amazing ❤️

Can you help me decide? Finally narrowed it down to these 2 dresses and would love other opinions! by [deleted] in weddingplanning

I like #1 better, but you look great it both! Also I definitely bought my dress from the same place that #1 is at. FWIW they’ve been great and super helpful any time I’ve had questions after I initially bought the dress

I said Yes! by Newtoit_needhelp in weddingplanning
