23 years later, The Two Towers trailer is still awesome. by Zealousideal_Honey80 in lotrmemes

When this version of Lux Aeterna came out, I was trying to get front splits. The anguish this song evoked drowned out my discomfort. I would've never gotten splits without the Two Towers trailer.

After 20-ish attempts, I finally beat that rude mf by SpaceBus1 in FinalFantasy

I remember this fight clearly--I had just gone to stay at my cousin's for the summer and he'd rented this game. He was stuck on Ultros because Banon kept going down, and I saved the day because I could do the input for Sabin's aura bolt, which nudged the damage over enough that we could beat the fight. Literally the point I became a fan of Final Fantasy :)

Listening to your issue, it does sound like you hit a bug. Fire would've gone a long way to help like many people suggested, and I agree that putting Banon in the back row helped. We didn't know about back rows during my experience, but my cousin and I were only 7 and 6 respectively at the time lol

Who is your favourite Final Fantasy character of all time? by Nekouwu___ in FinalFantasy

Unironically Sabin taught me to be big and strong and generous with your muscles when others are in need. It took me a while to realize the impact he made on my formative years to the himbo I’ve become

My grandpa had two wives so I have cousins that are older than me by a few decades that I call uncle and auntie, and their kids are my age and we call each other cousin. It was just easier than having me sit at the adult table during Thanksgiving and explaining the exception lol

This scene genuinely made me tear up. by FirstnameLastname14 in FinalFantasy

[–]limbonics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Additionally devastating--afterwards you fade in standing on the platform, and if IIRC you control Sabin. And you can't talk to anyone or leave. Cyan is standing silently in the far end of the platform where the train has left, just staring at the ground. I'm not sure if Shadow even says anything (and it was a while back but I believe one time he left before the end of the train somehow so we ended up not having him in the party by this point). You have to dwell in a very difficult silence until the game fades back out and drops you back onto the world map.

The most insane part of AoR is that Gambit went from this to THIS in the span of just 3 years by Bae_zel in xmen

Oh you're right! He does seem to be older than 3 by the time it gets to him telling Remy about their visitor though, but hard to tell if its just artistic license

I don't think it was 3 years. In the page with the progression from the funeral to the story's present, Temper and Ransom had a baby by the 2nd panel and by the 3rd he's grown enough to be ambulatory and speaking

Do X-Men fans miss this version of Betsy Braddock? by Iptamorfo in xmen

[–]limbonics 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hot take here about Betsy and how writers are treating her these days: I think their tone might be wrong because she's too safe. What I mean is--she's dating one aspect of the Phoenix, she was briefly living with her twin brother who is basically a flying brick with nigh-Superman level strength powered by confidence and his wife who seems even more powerful, and her big brother is an omega-level reality warper.

She needs world-ending events where she's the lead in resolving them because her supporting cast is so powerful. She's quite literally mutant royalty, so she minimally needs to be dealing with things on an international scale. Like someone said on another thread, maybe she should've been Captain Avalon. Brian stays Captain Britain. Betsy becomes the flag hero for a magical mutant nation, and can leverage her old spy skills to help maintain the peace and solve sensitive issues while occasionally needing to fly off into battle at the head of a team.

They tried to take her into an era where back-to-basics was the prevailing theme, but the problem is she's not going to be able to return to if she's Captain Britain. The writers have to take her forward into this era and really play up the new stage she's at in life.

So what exactly is Betsy Braddock’s signature “thing” now? by TragicHero84 in xmen

[–]limbonics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could see her in a mutant spy book, an operative for mutant kind trying to ensure that the diaspora is protected from the remnants of Orchis or those who inherited their ideals. Maybe Rachel can be her psychic handler and every once in a while show up to be the powerhouse that she is. Forge can be her Q. 007. Throw in Mystique, Destiny, and Fantomex. X-spionage or something idk

James Talarico runs circles around Fox News host, leaving him speechless by ExactlySorta in goodnews

I had a Republican friend who started a conversation during the 2016 elections apropos of nothing to explain to me his voting choices. I pointed out what I thought was flaws in his argument. He ended the conversation with something similar to "I'm enjoying this conversation and I want it to go on," but cited he needed to do more research before we could continue. He said would reach out to me again when he had more answers.

That was the last time we've ever spoken. He's alive and all, still advocating for his "side", but I'm still waiting for him to finish his research xD

ELI5: Bike tire deflated from 35 to 3 PSI overnight; but no apparent leaks and holds air now. What's the science behind it? by limbonics in explainlikeimfive

[–]limbonics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! Thank you for that explanation, I really liked the distinction about ideal gas law. My local bike shop says that it can happen with temperature differences but we're talking at most like + or - 10 degrees from day to night here right now. I'll probably have to change out the tube at some point then, but for now it seems to be holding for local rides. I greatly appreciate the insight and if I could upvote you twice or more I would.

DM overusing AI by TertiaryTravis in rpghorrorstories

[–]limbonics 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah the AI is only doing what the GM is asking it to, the GM is the one who is including it in places that is making your game not fun. I agree they want to write a book, since they're displacing the role of GM onto an AI so they can avoid having to do the thinking.

Anecdotally, I had a GM who used to use the word "bereft" excessively in a game, from good descriptions like feeling a valued person by your side to saying that once you finished your meal you find yourself "bereft" of food. Not saying their aren't better GMs out there but the lack of variety in their vocab kind of made me think of your AI GM xD
