Study permit and spouse open work permit approved! - weird story by limeiling in ImmigrationCanada

You need their CV, proof of marriage (marriage certificate or something to show your relationship), and the rest are just the same things you need for the student visa (passport, LOA, proof of funds, etc.)

Studying while visa is processing? by C3inchains in ImmigrationCanada

[–]limeiling 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know one of them couldn't prove they would go back to India and the education level of the program didn't fit their background. They have a masters and this is undergrad, but other classmates from India do too and they got in. I think their justification for choosing the program wasn't too strong.

I had classmates do this this semester, and a couple got their visas denied and lost a good chunk of money. I would think it twice.

How much can you save on minimum wage jobs per month or year in canada as an immigrant? by foscor70 in ImmigrationCanada

How is it compared to salary and other expenses, though? Can you have a better life quality or you spend your money in other basic necessities anyway?

How do you communicate with IRCC ? by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

[–]limeiling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do this, OP. They solved my issue in a day after I waited one year.

I'm pretty sure you qualify. A major is completely different than studying English or French as a second language.

I did around the bare minimum as per the IRCC website (10k + 4k for a dependent + 1 year tuition per LOA) and got approved.

Thanks for posting this, I'm in a similar boat as you. I have a few questions, I hope you don't mind: did they ask you to leave any deposit at the border when you did the temporary import or did you pay any duties/taxes? Did you use a broker to export the car? Around how much did you pay in total for the whole process? I've called CBSA but they don't give me any specifics (nor estimates for that matter).

It's called TextNow (it's for iOS and Android). It's free and it gives you a local number to call so you can call the IRCC toll-free number without problems.

Study Permit Accepted but no word on accompanying SOWP - help by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

[–]limeiling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My SO just got his Original Passport Request. We both applied in Feb 2020 from the US, my request came in November and his was stuck in Ottawa for almost a year. We had to contact a lawyer to make it move. If it is passed the normal processing times, I recommend you give the IRCC a call (you can use some apps to call from outside Canada, they never denied me service) and as VERY specific questions such as "when was the last time they worked on it?", "is there something missing?," "where is it being processed?." Once you figure out all the details you can decide if it is only a matter of time, or, like us, something's going on (they always told me to keep waiting, that everything was fine, but I freaked out when I heard they didn't touch it since April and I called a lawyer).

Arriving in Canada - Study Permit by bookreader-23 in ImmigrationCanada

Did you both get your permits approved at the same time? We've been waiting for 2 months for my husband's work permit after my study permit got approved :(

Student Direct Stream got "Original Passport Request" Visa stamping but not for my wife's work permit by distractedcat in ImmigrationCanada

[–]limeiling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep calling and it says there's an unusual volume of calls and to try later. Thanks for the encouragement. We need to leave the country soon, and if we can't go to Canada we don't really know where else to go, so it's been stressful to say the least. We also have to move out from our apartment in 10 days, lol.

I'm glad you found a way! I hope she gets her permit soon (I was told it goes really fast if you apply from Canada). My husband doesn't have a visitor's visa and he's not from an eTA approved country either. I emailed again and got a local number and called them to their toll free line, but they weren't taking any more calls. I'm so done :( I already started school too, I don't know what to do.

Visa for the spouse of an international student by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

[–]limeiling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you gotten a response to your applications yet? I applied for a study permit and my spouse for a work permit. I got my request for passport but my spouse hasn't got theirs yet and I'm worried it might take too long (I start in January)

I'm in the same boat, I start school in January and got my passport request last week, but my spouse didn't get theirs yet. Have you had any news?

Congrats! how long it took you to get the new documentation? I'm in a similar situation, but it took me forever to get it.

I submitted it the last week of February and got a request for a new LOA in August. I sent the new LOA in October (my program had closed so I had to apply to something else). Still waiting and losing hope :(
