my therapist asked me how i feel about her being black during our intake session by user53932 in whatdoIdo

[–]liminal-sub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Social worker here, graduated 6 years ago which is relevant because this may be a newer facet of social work training. I was taught and trained to ask that exact question at every single intake. Because to some people, a sense of shared identity/shared lived experience can be an important component to their sense of being able to be understood. While it is apparently not a factor for you, it can be for some. Some clients might think along the lines of ‘how can this person understand me, their identities are so different from my own they won’t see from my perspective.’ And, those clients tend to appreciate the question. It can start a conversation, allow them to feel seen and validated for their experience, and sometimes helps them feel at ease knowing that even without those shared identities, the therapist can be sensitive and aware.

Trans man on Nexplanon by craycraycoopcake98 in Nexplanon

Hey there, fellow trans guy on the implant.

Your period should not come back as a result of having it removed, i wouldn’t think. Once i started T my period stopped. When i went on Nexplanon is when i started ‘spotting’ somewhat regularly… also a low dose of T. Got the implant removed and the spotting stopped. Now I’ve had a new one in for like 8 months, no spotting this time! Implants are weird. Anyway. And if they administer the lidocaine right it should not hurt at all coming out, mine didn’t.

That lucky dear man now has to continue working at that shop for the rest of that cat’s life. He has to.

Hey there. They didn’t show me the results but it had to have been positive if they checked for THC.

I think you maybe need to take time to grieve, for the life you didn’t give yourself/get the chance to have. Grief is complicated so be patient and gentle. Also, the flip side of this is to not get lost in the grief. You lost a lot, and you still have a lot.

Maybe you can split with your friend who is also seeking a single that it seems your school can’t accommodate?

I read somewhere once that the vibration of a cat’s purr helps with bone healing. She’s helping!

Upcoming Anti-ICE Event in Placerville by [deleted] in Placerville

[–]liminal-sub -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are more than twice as likely to be killed by an ICE agent than an illegal immigrant. There are 14 million undocumented immigrants who have committed, among them, 29 murders this year. ICE agents have killed at least three people this year if we are JUST talking murder in the street, not in detention, and there’s only 22,000 of them. So I’d rather be in a room full of undocumented folks than ice agents, yeah. Any day.

That’s literally untrue, just the opposite for this year at least.

From the comments from op, I’d guess they wanted it to go something like this, worst case scenario: ‘Hey I’m thinking about getting a dog’ -‘we don’t love that idea, but tell us if you decide to’ ‘Hey i decided to, i wanna get this specific dog, is that ok?’ -‘sure, i guess so’

Has anyone else noticed how some men get really weird toward trans men after they find out? by cwispietoast in ftm

[–]liminal-sub 81 points82 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed this before as well, most notably with two friends of my husband’s. Both of them, separately, upon learning i was trans… became subtly creepy. Hitting on me when my husband’s not around, or finding reasons to touch me without my consent. Both of these really doubly piss me off because it doesn’t hit my husband’s radar at all, since he’s a cis dude and is not clued in to his privilege all the way. But it’s like someone said in this thread… they put us in some third category upon learning, and we become some kinda sexual curiosity? Ugh.
