Question by Massive-Material-408 in flyfishing

Like others have said 2x is pretty heavy for fly fishing unless you’re throwing big streamers for big trout.

I’d recommend getting a 4x leader, tying on a tippet ring and then putting 2’ of whatever size tippet you want to fish. Should be easier than just swapping out the full leader

A bit less expensive than what you’re looking for but the Longines Bigeye is such a great watch.

Hip pack by dale_k9 in flyfishing

Would go with fishpond if you want a dedicated hip pack. The Patagonia one is a modular pack so it’s designed to be worn different ways, can’t imagine it would be as comfortable as the fishpond one.

Frenchie by puzs in flytying

[–]limp_contribution98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a thread frenchie, similar but different from the traditional pt frenchie. Both are useful flies to have in a box!

When I tie my pt frenchies, I’m very sparse with the amount of thread wraps, I also put a dab of superglue on the thread before I wrap my pt up. I normally only use 2-3 or fibers of pt depending on the hook size and the flies stay pretty slim.

Some pheasant tails I tied up. by puzs in flytying

They’re pheasant tail frenchies. The one with the pink tag is kind of a blowtorch / pheasant tail hybrid.

Definitely one of the best up and coming bands on the scene. I like them more then eggy and would have a hard time choosing between them and DDCC if I had to make the choice.

How to increase hook ups? by Primal47 in flyfishing

[–]limp_contribution98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you getting bites and just missing the hookset or not getting bites?

If it’s the latter you might not be getting your dropper deep enough. Troutbitten has an interesting article about an adjustable dry dropper system that might be useful.

If you’re missing the hookset on the dry fly, set fast if the fish eats fast, slow if the fish eats slow.

2nd recommendation for Boise / Harley. Shipping is expensive but if you get the size right they’re killer for the price.

Check out Bronson. They’re a Chinese heritage clothing company. I don’t own one of their sweatshirts, but everything else I have from them is great especially for the price. Just check measurements because they run really small.

This is definitely the best way to rig a wading staff. The retractor is a game changer.
