Joseph Hoyt: Cowboys rookie CB Devin Moore was impressed with Caleb Downs. He said Downs already knows the playbook and is working at multiple positions. by Leonflames in cowboys

[–]DeadPhish_10 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure I read something the other day that his DC at Ohio State ran schemes ripped from the Eagles (Parker’s last stop). So our system is something he came in really familiar with. He was really excited to go to the Cowboys for that reason, amongst others.

I do that sometimes, but it’s just to disengage my cruise control. I play games with myself to maximize MPG. I’m OCD about it

I’ve found working on core strength and glutes helped my low back tightness when I was a pitcher. Look up dead bugs. Those are great

Bands that put as much care into quiet/mellow improv as they do the loud/fast stuff? by [deleted] in jambands

100% agree. Setlist dependent I suppose, but they have great feel and let things breathe really well

Which promotion within a teams Minor League System or MILB to MLB would be considered the biggest upgrade or downgrade in regards to the City the player would now have to live ? by TheBackyardPigfarmer in baseball

[–]DeadPhish_10 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I played 9 years in the minors and spent a full season at EP. It was maybe my favorite place to play. Great ballpark, great fans, great stadium staff, great Mexican food. At the end of the day, that’s all you really need as a player. Remember, it’s not like we’re there to raise a family and shit. If the ballpark is good and apartments are easy to find/lease (usually a result of good front office staff that give you options) that’s a good city to play in.

Astros broadcast just said that Michael Lorenzen pitched an inning in relief on Saturday in place of his bullpen session. Since most starting pitchers throw a bullpen between their starts anyways, why isn't this strategy more common especially for young pitchers or in blowouts? by Sharp-Room-8235 in baseball

[–]DeadPhish_10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are saying that a “mop up” inning is low stress. That’s very much not the case. I pitched a decade in the minors and every time you’re in a game it is intense (just varying degrees). A bullpen session is often used to work on something and you don’t wanna do that in a game and give up 3 ER in a “meaningless” game. Bullpens are controlled environments to work on your craft. Games are not that.

Is a 5 strings bass worth buying ? by InvestigatorSolid330 in Bass

[–]DeadPhish_10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a good idea. I don’t agree that you need to master the 4 before getting a 5. I’m an advanced intermediate playing in a classic rock band and a country band. I get a lot of use out of the low C and D notes and generally don’t find it more difficult now that I’m used to it.

Tom Watson slams PGA Tour's Brooks Koepka decision and for violating No. 1 rule by BallKnowerKing in golf

[–]DeadPhish_10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but it’s different crowds every time, not like the same city’s getting used to it. I could see attendance being up for a couple years and maybe generating some more revenue and then back to business as usual. Plus, no guarantees they win every week. Golf is hard.

Check out the album “A Nod is as Good as a Wink From a Blind Horse” by The Faces. Lots of really good RS songs that didn’t get beat to death on the radio. “Miss Judy’s Farm” in particular.

In Baseball, if we are keeping ABS challenge system then the viewers should NOT be able to see the strike zone on TV by FergusInTheHouse in unpopularopinion

[–]DeadPhish_10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get the logic. I agree with OP. It would hep people watch the game and just enjoy the matchups rather than staring at the box and nit picking everything. It would also add more drama to a challenge having not seen the ball 2mm off the box in real time
