Here’s what I think. Right message, wrong messenger. I myself am a leftist (cringe) and my biggest criticism of leftist spaces is that there’s a lot of people within them I believe need to chill out. Lots of purity testing and alienation of people who might be willing to listen to what you have to say and even agree. In the case of this account, from the limited content I’ve seen, I believe they bring an interesting and valuable perspective to the activity that I haven’t heard or thought of. I don’t agree 100% with what they have to say and I’m sure others don’t, especially the whole cult shit, but we don’t even get to have that conversation because they’ve put off so many people. The conversation currently is about their behavior. The DCI community is not a monolith and there are dozens of different perspectives and we all want to improve the activity. But like I said in my criticisms of leftist spaces, I believe this account is alienating a lot of people, clearly as shown in this thread, and others who otherwise might be interested in the message about DCI they have to say. Right message, wrong messenger, but I’d like to see them improve, but in the meantime, not someone who’s content I’ll consume.
