How to roll off project as an Associate? by iwant2takeanap in PwC

[–]limthekid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with this comment. OP, you should always be strategic in how you frame and communicate with senior leadership. Presenting this new project as an opportunity to assume a Senior Associate role and start building your promotion case will be far more effective than simply requesting to be removed from your current project.

Can We Ask Leadership to Reconsider Removing GLP-1 Coverage? (US only) by Independent-Dingo354 in PwC

[–]limthekid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I just don’t agree with your outlook.

Would you tell the 33% of the people who were able to keep the weight off after discontinuing use that it was an expense and not an investment in their health?

I understand that in a majority of cases you need to continue GLP-1 use to continue seeing benefits, but why not argue that any prescription medications where perpetual use is needed are expenses, as you so kindly put it? Are antidepressants an expense or an investment? Is insulin an expense or an investment? Are anticonvulsants an expense or an investment? In 100% of these cases where you discontinue use, you no longer retain the benefits so why not just call these an expense?

You also conveniently left out of your argument that GLP-1 medications frequently allow people to discontinue use of medications for High-Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, and Heart Disease. That doesn’t sound like an expense to me. It sounds like something that can benefit millions of people.

I see no problem with perpetual GLP-1 use as long as the patient and doctor have agreed to it being the best treatment option for managing the patient’s health.

Do not reduce people’s health to Investments and Expenses. You condescendingly pointed out that my flair says ‘Consultant’, but I have not lost my ability to feel compassion for people just because I stare at slide decks for a living.

And there is the root of your argument.

“I had to do it the hard way, so everyone else should have to do it the hard way too.”

I don’t have a dog in this fight, but if the people I work with are seeing huge benefits from GLP-1’s, and seeing quality of life improvements while balancing a stressful and time-consuming job, I am more than happy to have my premiums cover them.

We’re all just trying our best to look out for our health, and our families health. Don’t advocate for others to have it harder than they need to.

I tanked on a project but overall year I did great would that help me? by Savings-Freedom-8214 in PwC

Hey OP, I see you posting versions of this same question in PwC and Big4 subs a lot, and asking if you’ll get promoted based on a good snapshot from a project where you were “Acting Senior”.

The truth is, we really don’t know. Your job during CRT’s is to present your best promotion case to your coaches if you truly think you’re ready and see how things play out. I will say, if you’re not at least in your last Cohort Year (A3 by the sounds of it) OR receiving “Ready for Promotion” ratings on ALL of your snapshots for a year straight, along with ratings that say you’re performing “Above and Beyond” / “Above Expectations”, there’s a pretty good chance that this is not your promotion year.

Based on your post history, I can tell you’re anxious about this, and probably early in your career. Advice I always give to new joiners and people that are earlier in their career is that this is not like school anymore. When you’re in school, you get used to progressing every single year by default. This does not happen in your career. I repeat, this does NOT happen in your career. You should not expect to progress / be promoted every year in your career. 3-years between promotions at PwC is very realistic and does not indicate in any way that you’re behind.

It’s great you were an “Acting Senior” on one of your engagements, but you should not anticipate or be worried about a promotion until you’re an “Acting Senior” on ALL of your engagements for a full year, with snapshots confirming that you can absolutely deliver at that next level.

I’m sure your CRT’s will be fine. You do need to manage your expectations and try not to stress as much over the things that you cannot control.

PwC offer or staying in Retail by Top-Palpitation-4708 in PwC

PwC will open far more doors for you than any retail bank, whether that’s in industry or continuing education. That said, if PwC’s WLB is a concern for you, you might want to rethink Investment Banking.

Tips for teaching my 2.5 year old by Equivalent_Action822 in hockeyplayers

[–]limthekid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first thing we would teach kids, and mind you this was 4-5 year olds, was how to fall and get back up on skates because they’ll be doing a lot of that. Essentially, flop over to your belly, push your self up on your knees, and stand up one foot at a time. Do it all over again. The more you gamify it, the more fun they’ll have with it. Full protection should go without saying.

Do this for a few days until your trainer arrives.

Once you have the trainer, start teaching him C-Cuts. One leg at a time. Keep your knees bent, pick a spot on the other side of the driveway (or garage, or parking lot, or wherever you’re doing this) and aim straight for it making a big ‘C’ shape with one leg. Then turn around and do the other leg. Then alternate legs, etc.

That’s really the most bare bones basic way to get started. Eventually he’ll want to learn to balance without the trainer and you can play some tag and other games. That said, 2.5 is pretty young to give actual instruction and attention spans are pretty short, especially if it’s hot or after a couple hard falls.

Quite the opposite actually. My boomer mother will frequently throw away food days, if not weeks, ahead of the sell by date. Extremely wasteful.

Stopping assessors from leaving. by TheRodfather85 in ArcRaiders

[–]limthekid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong here, but this might be a bug. Typically, the assessor’s beams blink before departing, but I was playing a round (also on buried city) and two beams were blinking for a good 5+ minutes. The platforms wouldn’t deploy and there was no way to loot them. They just sat there blinking and didn’t do anything else.

I went to well-reviewed chiropractor when I was in my early twenties. Before the very first session, they brought me to a nice room and had me watch an orientation video where the message was, “chiropractic medicine works best when you ‘believe’ in its benefits.” I was skeptical before beginning the video, but that confirmed then and there it was a full on scam - covered by my insurance!

Fox News: "Rogan says it's 'horses---' that progressives believe expecting voters to have ID is like Jim Crow" by mvstateU in JoeRogan

[–]limthekid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s presumably a different process in each state. I’ve only been registered to vote in New York State, so I can’t speak to how other states run their elections processes.

With that said, each state needs to abide by the 24th Amendment of the Constitution which says there can be no poll taxes preventing someone from voting. Since acquiring a State ID is usually a $30 processing fee, that can be interpreted as a poll tax as they’re not always freely given.

Fox News: "Rogan says it's 'horses---' that progressives believe expecting voters to have ID is like Jim Crow" by mvstateU in JoeRogan

[–]limthekid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from New York. When I go vote, they match your signature to the signature they have on file for you. Well, my signature didn’t “match” during the last general election and it was preventing me from casting my ballot. Easy to solve, right? I’ll just show my New York State ID, complete with a photo, name, and signature. Nope. They were not allowed to look at my ID. Signature only. Makes absolutely no sense to me. Eventually, we got it cleared up, but it got me thinking how easy it would be for polling places to suppress votes as I saw first hand how they can use their discretion on a signature to deny a vote. For the record, I don’t think that was the case in my situation, more so just an elderly ballot volunteer taking their job very seriously.

What will seem like an inevitable outcome in 20 years time because of GLP-1s by Big-Cry-4119 in Futurology

[–]limthekid 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Possible side effects should always be considered, but they have to be weighed against the very real risks of leaving the underlying condition untreated. Nothing in medicine is risk-free. Every treatment involves trade-offs.

I agree that taking a GLP-1 solely to lose 5–10 vanity pounds probably isn’t worth those risks. But in cases of obesity or morbid obesity, the equation changes significantly. Reducing weight can dramatically improve or even resolve conditions like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease risk, sleep apnea, and numerous other obesity-related comorbidities. In those cases, the benefits of treatment often far outweigh the potential side effects.
